Television personality and businessman Willie Robertson is best known for his wise-cracking jokes on the hit television series \u201cDuck Dynasty.\u201d However, in recent months, he\u2019s accepted a new role as producer of a Broadway-style musical that\u2019s so good, he says it made him cry.<\/p>\n

The production, \u201cHis Story: The Musical,\u201d debuted in Colony, Texas, sharing the story of Jesus within the framework of hip-hop and pop music. Robertson calls it a combination of \u201cThe Chosen\u201d and \u201cHamilton.\u201d The director, Jeff Calhoun, received Tony Awards for \u201cGrease\u201d and \u201cNewsies.\u201d It\u2019s playing this summer at the Broadway Tent, a state-of-the-art, 75,000-square-foot event center with 1,300 seats.<\/p>\n

After it was already in motion, Robertson and his wife Korie became \u201cHis Story\u201d producers last year. Korie told Christian Headlines<\/em>, \u201cWillie literally listened to one song and came to me with tears in his eyes.\u201d That song was \u201cOne Step at a Time.\u201d Korie continued, \u201cHe was like, \u2018I don\u2019t even know what that is. But this is incredible.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

Anna Miriam Brown, the show\u2019s creator, was a missionary who listened to \u201cHamilton\u201d on the mission field in Kenya and was inspired to write a pop-style Bible musical. Willie Robertson told Christian Headlines<\/em>, \u201cWe feel like God\u2019s got something going on. And we were excited to be a part of it. I\u2019m passionate about sharing the gospel. And when I watched it, I felt this voice inside just say, \u2018There are different ways to get this message out, especially to the younger generation today.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n
