U.S. Women\u2019s National Team player Mallory Swanson was recently carried off the field on a stretcher after tearing her patella. There\u2019s no timetable for Swanson\u2019s recovery, but she likely won\u2019t return in time for this summer\u2019s World Cup. She\u2019ll also miss most, if not all, of the National Women\u2019s Soccer League that started in March.<\/p>\n

In an Instagram post, Swanson updated fans after her knee surgery. She wrote, \u201cThis is hard. I\u2019m in shock and don\u2019t have much to say other than thank you to everyone for the messages. I feel the love and prayers, and I\u2019m holding them close to my heart. Surgery this morning was a success. I\u2019m thankful for my trainers, doctors, coaches, and teammates for their help throughout this process.\u201d<\/p>\n
