\u201cThe Voice\u201d season 22 contestant Jay Allen, a former worship leader, recently released a new music video after his mother\u2019s death, sharing the power of her prayers. \u201cNo Prayers Like Mama\u2019\u201d was written by Allen and Justin Morgan. Allen\u2019s mother from Alzheimer\u2019s disease in 2019, and his new song hopes to honor her faith in God to protect him throughout his life.<\/p>\n

Allen recently talked with Music Mayhem for an interview, discussing his loss and supernatural experience when filming the video. The artist said he used music to process his mother\u2019s death. Allen revealed, \u201cI really went to war against that disease, became an advocate for the National Alzheimer\u2019s Association and a philanthropist, and raised a bunch of money to help fight against Alzheimer\u2019s. But at the same time, I was grieving and in a pretty tough place for a while.\u201d<\/p>\n

The 36-year-old singer continued, \u201cAnd I\u2019ll always be honest about that because I feel like being an artist specifically, it\u2019s your obligation to talk about things that are hard to talk about. Because that\u2019s how you relate to people and how they relate to you.\u201d Allen says he believes his mother is with him and is ready to move forward.<\/p>\n

Allen said he had a supernatural experience while filming the music video for \u201cNo Prayer Like Mama\u2019s,\u201d directed by Dustin and Tessa Sturm. He described, \u201cIt\u2019s a chapel built on the side of a mountain, and it\u2019s one of the most beautiful views in the country.\u201d The video was shot in front of the Fred W. Symes Chapel in Clevland, South Carolina, known as \u201cThe Pretty Place.\u201d The location would cost over $2,000 every two hours to rent, something that Allen couldn\u2019t do with his budget.<\/p>\n
