December 23 was the imaginary holiday, Festivus, created on that infamous “Seinfield” episode<\/a> where Frank Costanza invents the annual ceremony of telling your loved ones how they have disappointed you in the previous months.  <\/p>\n

Alan Sepinwall over at the Star-Ledger <\/a>has listed his own pop cullture grievances as he looks back over the 2008 television season. His list includes some excellent choices such as Shonda Rhimes and her ridiculous Izzy-ghost storyline along with the tragedy of former “Gilmore Girls” creator Amy Sherman-Palladino’s latest pilot, “Jezebel James.” Although I really don’t want to be a “Debbie Downer” so close to the new year, I do feel a catharsis coming on as I add a few of my own TV grievances to the Festivus celebration.<\/p>\n

The cancellation of “Pushing Daisies”:<\/a><\/strong> I was surprised but pleased at the outpouring of sadness from Idol Chatter readers who also feel the loss of this quirky dramedy with one of the most talented casts on TV. (Somehow, ABC is convinced that they should keep new epiosdes of “According to Jim” on the air….)<\/p>\n

Rosie O’Donnell’s variety show<\/a><\/strong>: I would like an apology from Rosie for destroying every
good memory I have of watching old “Carol Burnett” episodes.  Rosie’s show was one trainwreck of a Thansgiving variety special that NBC was considering for a series.<\/p>\n

Jay Leno staying on at NBC<\/a><\/strong>: Okay, this hasn”t actually happened yet, but the news was announced in 2008 and it is already annoying me. After promising to hand over his show to Conan O’Brien and go off into the TV sunset, NBC is allowing Leno to have his own show at 10 o’clock that will feature more of his lame man-on-the-street pieces and other comedic tidbits. If I was Conan, I would be furious at allowing Leno to steal some of my thunder.  As a veiwer, I am angry that this is another executive decision to not provide original, dramatic programming.<\/p>\n
