The Erwin Brothers, the filmmakers behind the faith-based hit movie \u201cJesus Revolution,\u201d have announced their next project: a true story starring two-time Academy Award winner Hilary Swank.<\/p>\n

Titled \u201cOrdinary Angels,\u201d the film will also feature \u201cReacher\u201d star Alan Ritchson and is scheduled for a February 23, 2024 theatrical release.<\/p>\n

The project will tell the story of Sharon Stevens, played by Swank, a \u201cfierce but struggling hairdresser in small-town Kentucky who discovers a renewed sense of purpose when she meets Ed Schmitt (Ritchson), a widower working hard to make ends meet for his two daughters.\u201d<\/p>\n

An overview from Kingdom Story Company reads, \u201cWith his youngest daughter waiting for a liver transplant, Sharon sets her mind to helping the family and will move mountains to do it. What unfolds is the inspiring tale of faith, everyday miracles, and ordinary angels.\u201d<\/p>\n

In a statement, Swank said she was drawn to the story \u201cbecause it\u2019s such a powerful reminder that angels reside everywhere among us.\u201d She said, \u201cAnd that faith, hope, grit and positivity are all powerful fuel for miracles. It\u2019s also a story about the power of organ donation \u2014 something incredibly near and dear to my heart. I couldn\u2019t be more thrilled to be a part of this story and message.\u201d<\/p>\n

The 48-year-old actress won Oscars for her roles in \u201cBoys Don\u2019t Cry\u201d and \u201cMillion Dollar Baby.\u201d She\u2019s also received two Golden Globes, a Critics\u2019 Choice Award, an Independent Spirit Award, a Gotham Tribute Award and a Screen Actors Guild Award. \u201cOrdinary Angels\u201d is directed by Jon Gunn, written by Meg Tilly and Kelly Fremon Craig, and produced by Kingdom Story Company, the group behind hits including \u201cI Can Only Imagine\u201d and \u201cWoodlawn.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cOrdinary Angels\u201d comes on the heels of the success of \u201cJesus Revolution,\u201d which was released on Feb. 24 and grossed $45.5 million. Based on a true story, the film is set in the 1970s. It chronicles the true story of a spiritual awakening amongst hippies in Southern California in a movement that was ultimately dubbed the \u201cJesus Revolution.\u201d<\/p>\n

The film\u2019s\u00a0Rotten Tomatoes audience score<\/a>\u00a0sits at 99 percent from over 5,000 reviews, and it has also received an A+ CinemaScore. According to\u00a0Collider,<\/a>\u00a0\u201cJesus Revolution\u201d is Lionsgate\u2019s highest-grossing post-pandemic film since 2019.<\/p>\n

The film\u2019s director Jon Erwin told\u00a0The Christian Post<\/a>\u00a0he wanted the film to be \u201cvery, very authentic,\u201d adding: \u201cThe fact that Lionsgate let us make a movie called \u2018Jesus Revolution\u2019 is astounding and a miracle.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cFor every story that our industry tells of a pastor gone bad, televangelists, whatever, there are 10,000 pastors doing great work on the ground all across America. I think the American pastor is one of the most under-celebrated, under-seen jobs in American society that binds us together. And they\u2019re doing great work. And a lot of times, those stories are not told,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
