Musician and actor Jack Black, whose resume includes mocking Christian opposition to same-sex marriage and leading a mass prayer to Satan, is reportedly set to star in a Christmas movie about Satan. According to Deadline, Black will star in \u201cDear Santa,\u201d a Christmas comedy from Peter and Bobby Farrelly, the duo behind hits like \u201cThere\u2019s Something About Mary\u201d and \u201cKingpin.\u201d<\/p>\n

The plotline supposedly involves a young boy who accidentally writes a letter to Satan, not Santa, for Christmas. The plot twist is reminiscent of a scene from the Disney+ series, \u201cThe Santa Clauses,\u201d where young children dressed like elves held up letters spelling out \u201cWe love you, Satan.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cDear Santa\u201d is still in its early stages, but the cast is reported to include Keegan-Michael Key, Robert Timothy Smith, Hayes MacArthur, Brianne Howey, and more. No release date has been announced. Initially\u00a0sold\u00a0in 2012 as \u201cDear Satan,\u201d the project will mark a reunion between Black and the Farrelly brothers, who first teamed up in 2001 for the comedy \u201cShallow Hal\u201d with Gwenyth Paltrow.<\/p>\n

Black and Kyle Gass are also founding members of the metal duo Tenacious D, whose songs include odes to the devil like\u00a0\u201cBeelzeboss\u201d\u00a0and 2001\u2019s\u00a0\u201cTribute.\u201d\u00a0The video portrays the band\u2019s encounter with a demonic figure who threatens to take their souls if the duo can\u2019t play \u201cthe best song in the world.\u201d<\/p>\n

Satan also figures prominently in the duo\u2019s 2006\u00a0film\u00a0<\/a>Tenacious D in The Pick of Destiny, in which the band challenges the devil, played by Foo Fighters\u2019 Dave Grohl, to a \u201crock-off.\u201d<\/p>\n

In addition to his music and movies, Black has also openly mocked both Jesus Christ and Christians, such as when he took part in a 2008 satire\u00a0video\u00a0called \u201cProp 8: The Musical,\u201d which aimed at opponents of California\u2019s same-sex marriage law. As part of the video, Jesus, played by Black, intervenes in a debate between pro- and anti-Prop 8 Christians and remarks, \u201cThe Bible says a lot of things, you know?\u201d<\/p>\n

Black, portraying Jesus, says, \u201cLeviticus also says shellfish is an abomination\u201d and that the \u201cBible says a lot of interesting things like you can stone your wife or sell your daughter into slavery.\u201d<\/p>\n

Black\u2019s movies have frequently involved rock music, and with that theme comes frequent allusions to satanic symbols such as the \u201cdevil\u2019s horn\u201d hand gesture, which Black uses in School of Rock and Pick of Destiny. In a promotional stunt for the video game Brutal Legend, Black\u00a0led a satanic prayer<\/a>\u00a0at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards as a tribute to metal music.<\/p>\n

During the show, Black took the stage as his Brutal Legend character Eddie Riggs and said, \u201cSince we\u2019re giving a rock award tonight, who wants to pray to the devil with me?\u201d<\/p>\n

He then told the audience to take the hand of someone next to them and then prayed on stage, \u201cDear Dark Lord Satan \u2026 I wanted to say hi and ask you to grant tonight\u2019s nominees\u2019 continued success in the music industry.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
