The day after the Kansas City Chiefs defeated the Cincinnati Bengals in a wild 23-20 win, Gracie Hunt, the daughter of the team\u2019s owner Clark Hunt,\u00a0<\/span>posted<\/span><\/a>\u00a0a prayer on social media. \u201cBold prayers honor God & God honors bold prayers,\u201d she wrote. The tweet included a picture of 118:5-7: \u201cI called to the Lord in distress; the Lord answered me and put me in a spacious place. The Lord is for me; I will not be afraid. What can a mere mortal do to me? The Lord is my helper. Therefore, I will look in triumph on those who hate me.\u201d The 23-year-old had originally planned to pursue a professional soccer career, but concussions led her down a different path and now she manages the team\u2019s social media as well as completing a master\u2019s degree in sports management at the University of Kansas. \u201cSoccer was my first love. I wanted to play in college. I won the championship when I was in high school with my high school team and played club as well. After suffering four concussions, that was a dream that I could no longer pursue, which is really hard when you work your entire life to be good at something. I had to find a new dream,\u201d she\u00a0<\/span>said<\/span><\/a>\u00a0in an interview about her work with the Chiefs.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Chiefs pulled out a <\/span>last-minute stunner<\/span><\/a>\u00a0in the AFC championship game against the Cincinnati Bengals. A late hit by a Bengals defender against Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes moving the team within field goal position with just seconds to spare. Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker kicked the winning field goal from 45 yards with only three seconds left in the game. This will be the third time the team has played in the Super Bowl in four years. Mahomes won his first Super Bowl victory in 2020 and looks to add another on Sunday.<\/span><\/p>\n

The upcoming Super Bowl LVII is notable as the quarterbacks of both teams have made <\/span>open statements about their faith<\/span><\/a>. After the Chiefs\u2019 victory over the Bengals, Mahomes thanked God for helping him to overcome an ankle injury. \u201cFirst off, I want thank God, man. He healed my body this week to battle through that. He gave me the strength to be out here,\u201d Mahomes said. Philadelphia Eagles quarterback, Jalen Hurts,\u00a0<\/span>quoted John 13:7<\/span><\/a>\u00a0after his team defeated the 49ers during the NFC Championship game. In a 2019 essay, he penned the difficulties he had faced in his football career, Hurts wrote, \u201cI understand that God put those obstacles and challenges in my life for a reason. He wanted me to feel the pain I felt for a reason.
