She once stated, \u201cYour life is already a miracle of chance just waiting for you to order its destiny.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut in order for that destiny to manifest, I think that it requires courage to have faith, it requires patience, as we just heard, and it requires a true sense of yourself,\u201d\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=9augAE3q-Qw\">Bassett said.<\/a> \u201cIt\u2019s not easy because the past is circuitous, and it has many unexpected detours, but by the grace of God, I stand here. I stand here grateful, grateful to the Hollywood Foreign Press for giving me this honor, along with \u2018Wakanda Forever.\u2019\u2026 My mother always said, \u2018good things come to those who pray.\u2019 I see the truth of that every day as we welcome each new day as a family.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The 64-year-old actress previously won a Golden Globe in 1994 for Best Actress in a Motion Picture \u2013 Musical or Comedy for her iconic portrayal of Tina Turner in \u201cWhat\u2019s Love Got to Do With It.\u201d With this win, Bassett is the first actress to win a Golden Globe for a Marvel Studios film.<\/p>\n<p><iframe title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/9augAE3q-Qw\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>According to<a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/2022\/film\/box-office\/box-office-wakanda-forever-dominates-second-weekend-1235435612\/\">\u00a0Variety,<\/a>\u00a0\u201cWakanda Forever,\u201d released in November 2022, opened to $181 million and has generated $288 million in North America and $546.3 million globally to date. The film also stars Letitia Wright and Lupita Nyong\u2019o.<\/p>\n<p>An outspoken Christian, Bassett often discusses her faith and how it impacts her career. In a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.christianpost.com\/news\/exclusive-angela-bassett-talks-unanswered-prayers-guardian-angels.html\">previous interview<\/a>\u00a0with The Christian Post, she said she relies on the Scriptures when facing challenges in her line of work.\u00a0\u201cAll things work together for good, for those who have the Lord and are called according to His purpose,\u201d she said, quoting\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/bibleportal.com\/verse-topic?v=Romans+8%3A28&amp;version=NIV\">Romans 8:28<\/a>. \u201cSo I have foundations, and He is my rock I keep going back to.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In her speech, Bassett applauded her \u201cWakanda Forever\u201d costars and honored the late Chadwick Boseman, who starred in the first film in the Marvel movie franchise.
