Their response, however, is a thoughtful, captivating <a href=\"http:\/\/www.id-mag.com\/currentissue.asp\" target=\"_new\">March\/April issue<\/a> devoted to \u201cDesign and Religion: New Forms for Faith.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Spanning a number of faiths, stories examine material religious culture, from the architectural transformation of a Houston sports arena into Joel Osteen\u2019s megachurch to new household technology that allows Orthodox Jews to finesse Shabbat restrictions\u2014programmable light-switch timers are just the start of it\u2014to art inspired by Icelandic folklore. Designers can\u2019t resist kitsch, so Jack Chick\u2019s evangelical shock-tracts are studied, as are Barnaby Barford\u2019s prank Christmas ceramics.
