As Neal McDonough navigated Hollywood, there was one thing he refused to give up on: his faith in God. In 2010, the former \u201cDesperate Housewives\u201d star claimed he was fired three days into filming the ABC series \u201cScoundrels\u201d because he wouldn\u2019t agree to on-screen sex scenes. While the show only ran for one season, the 56-year-old said he was blacklisted from the industry.<\/p>\n

As McDonough struggled, he always felt that God had a better plan for him. After being faced with \u201ca hard few years\u201d trying to find work, he received a call from screenwriter Graham Yost who offered him to star in \u201cJustified.\u201d Since then, McDonough has kept busy pursuing his love of acting.<\/p>\n

Over the years, McDonough has remained faithful to his deep devotion to God. He\u2019s always eager to take on a project that celebrates family traditions. He\u2019s now narrating \u201cO Holy Night: Christmas with The Tabernacle Choir.\u201d The TV special has been the No. 1 primetime holiday program on PBS for 17 years since it aired in 2004.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think I was blessed at a very young age to have a strong relationship with God,\u201d McDonough told Fox News Digital. \u201cAnd it\u2019s been paramount in my life, as everyone kind of knows. Look, we all make mistakes. We\u2019re all flawed; we\u2019re all human. And that\u2019s kind of what makes us beautiful at the same time.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd you know, especially in the films that [my wife] Ruv\u00e9 and I have been doing and\u2026 producing in the last couple of years, they talk about these things,\u201d he shared. \u201c[They] talk about what it\u2019s like to have your faith challenged or how you can overcome certain difficulties in life knowing that God has your back. And it\u2019s shows like \u2018Oh Holy Night\u2019 that kind of reinforce that family is the most important thing on the planet. There\u2019s nothing like family.\u201d<\/p>\n

Most recently, McDonough appeared in the hit Western drama \u201cYellowstone\u201d opposite Kevin Costner. However, it wasn\u2019t the first time that McDonough worked closely with the fellow actor. He and the 67-year-old appeared in the 2006 film \u201cThe Guardian.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe were both college baseball players, [so] during lunch, we would take batting practice and hit balls and talk about life,\u201d said McDonough. \u201cI really got to know Kevin pretty well during that film. And then when I got \u2018Yellowstone,\u2019 it was just really great to see him again.\u201d McDonough said the pair bonded on \u201cYellowstone\u201d over their families. The Oscar winner is a proud dad of seven children.<\/p>\n

In \u201cYellowstone,\u201d McDonough played Malcolm Beck, the shady businessman who becomes mortally wounded in a standoff against John Dutton [Costner]. However, McDonough teased that his time in the series may not be over. He previously pointed out that we never saw the villain\u2019s eyes close when he died. McDonough said one person could make that Christmas wish come true: \u201cYellowstone\u201d creator Taylor Sheridan.<\/p>\n

McDonough said, \u201cTaylor\u2019s a mighty busy guy right now,\u201d he said. \u201cAnd you know, [my wife] and I are so busy doing our films that I\u2019m not sure we\u2019ll ever have the time to\u2026 get it done. But I certainly would love to do that for sure \u2014 get back in the saddle one more time against Kevin.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
