The\u00a0Celtics\u2019 head coach\u00a0doesn\u2019t even consider Prince William and Kate Middleton as \u201cThe Royal Family.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A reporter asked Joe Mazzulla if he met with \u201cthe Royal Family.\u201d His response: \u201cJesus, Mary and Joseph?\u201d He seemed pretty serious, too. \u201cOh no, I did not. I\u2019m only familiar with one royal family. I don\u2019t know too much about that one,\u201d he continued after a reporter clarified she was talking about the Prince and Princess of Wales.<\/p>\n<p>The couple joined Celtics co-owner Wyc Grousbeck and his wife, Emilia Fazzalari, co-owner Steve Pagliuca and his wife, Judy, Celtics great and Hall of Famer Thomas \u201cSatch\u201d Sanders, and others. They are on their first trip to the United States in almost a decade.<\/p>\n<p>Jaylen Brown hardly even noticed, adding that \u201cit was just a regular game for me.\u201d When the couple was shown on the jumbotron, fans broke into a \u201cUSA\u201d chant. Jokesters quickly poked fun at the awkward moment,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/JohnMikulec\/status\/1598125545254191104\">with one Twitter user writing,<\/a>\u00a0\u201cWhat was the Point of Dumping the Tea in the Harbor if you\u2019re just going to invite the Royals to a Celtics game 249 years later.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The frosty reception \u2014 which ITV NEWS\u2019 royal editor Chris Ship\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/chrisshipitv\/status\/1598240861934223361\">attributed to the Boston team\u2019s \u201cstrong Irish roots\u201d<\/a>\u2014 comes after the couple\u2019s trip was already marred by accusations of racism in the royal family.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">This is awesome. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/ncvAlIaBtB\">pic.twitter.com\/ncvAlIaBtB<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 John-Henry Westen (@JhWesten) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/JhWesten\/status\/1598725491804049425?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">December 2, 2022<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>Shortly before the Prince and Princess of Wales touched down on American soil, William\u2019s godmother Lady Susan Hussey\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2022\/11\/30\/royal-aide-lady-susan-hussey-quits-after-unacceptable-comments\/\">resigned from her honorary position<\/a>\u00a0in King Charles\u2019 household after making \u201cunacceptable and deeply regrettable comments\u201d to a black domestic abuse campaigner during a Buckingham Palace event.<\/p>\n<p>The offense occurred at a Palace reception where Hussey, 83, repeatedly asked the non-profit founder Ngozi Fulani, 61, where she came from. Although Prince William avoided commenting on the scandal directly, a spokesperson from Kensington Palace addressed the news at a briefing, saying, \u201cI was really disappointed to hear about the guest\u2019s experience at Buckingham Palace last night.\u201d In addition to the usual charity stops, the couple also rubbed shoulders with President Biden before presenting the Earthshot Prize at a star-studded gala.<\/p>\n<p>The rocky start to the Wales\u2019 Boston visit is also compounded by the release of the trailer for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2022\/12\/01\/harry-meghan-documentary-netflix-trailer-drops\/\">upcoming Netflix documentary<\/a>. Harry and Meghan famously quit their royal duties in January 2020 and moved to California.<\/p>\n<p>The runaway couple then accused the royals of racism during their explosive Oprah interview in 2021. Among the couple\u2019s accusations was that an unnamed \u201csenior royal\u201d questioned the skin color of their then-unborn first child, Archie Mountbatten-Windsor.<\/p>\n<p>There were highs and lows for the royal couple on their U.S. trip. Sadly, Prince William and Princess Kate didn\u2019t get the warmest reception on their first U.S. tour in eight years.
