Earlier this week I ran into a huge Christian music fan in a coffeeshop in Hanover, N.H. (clue: his “Amy Grant & Friends” T-shirt) who had just returned from the second annual Smitty Cruise<\/a>, Michael W. Smith’s waterborne jamboree that combines a trip around the Caribbean with a week of concerts and sing-a-longs (including “Smitty-oke,” in which audience members demonstrate the difference between themselves and the pros by joining MWS on stage). This year Smitty was joined <\/a>by Amy Grant and her teenaged daughter with Gary Chapman, who sang a number on her own one night with Amy watching from the sidelines, according to my coffeeshop informant, who says Amy welled up during the performance.
