She last appeared as Miss Hannigan in the film adaptation of \u201cAnnie.\u201d Diaz has spent her time doing other things in the years since, including welcoming her first daughter, Raddix Madden, in 2020.<\/p>\n<p>The 50-year-old celebrity\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.harpersbazaar.com\/celebrity\/latest\/a33534385\/cameron-diaz-gwyneth-paltrow-quitting-acting\/\">recently spoke with<\/a>\u00a0actor Gwenyth Paltrow about her Tinseltown exit, telling the \u201cIron Man\u201d star, \u201cI just decided that I wanted different things out of my life. I had gone so hard for so long, working, making films, and it\u2019s such a grind. I didn\u2019t really make any space for my personal life.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Paltrow asked Diaz what it was like to walk away from Hollywood at the height of success. The retired actor replied, \u201cI got a peace in my soul because I finally was taking care of myself. I just feel grounded and light.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She went on to say, \u201cIt\u2019s so intense to work at that level and be that public and put yourself out there. There\u2019s a lot of energy coming at you at all times when you\u2019re really visible as an actor and doing press and putting yourself out there.\u201d Diaz added, \u201cI realized I handed off parts of my life to all these other people, and they took it. And I had to basically take it back and take responsibility for my life.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>American culture is much different today than it was when Diaz was last an A-list celebrity. A\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.rasmussenreports.com\/public_content\/lifestyle\/general_lifestyle\/september_2021\/few_see_hollywood_s_influence_as_positive\">Rasmussen poll from 2021<\/a>\u00a0found more than half of Americans, 56 percent, believe Hollywood as a whole holds a liberal point of view, and 75 percent believe the entertainment industry harms American culture.<\/p>\n<p><iframe title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/XoX73sp0IOE\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rasmussenreports.com\/public_content\/lifestyle\/general_lifestyle\/january_2021\/only_19_view_celebrities_as_good_role_models\">Another survey<\/a>\u00a0from the same year found a mere 19 percent of Americans view celebrities as good role models, while a majority, 61 percent, say they are not idols worth emulating. Perhaps it\u2019s for the best Diaz has exchanged life in the public eye for a peaceful, private existence. It should be noted, though, she is coming back for\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/2022\/06\/cameron-diaz-to-un-retire-via-netflix-film-back-in-action-with-jamie-foxx-1235054244\/\">at least one movie<\/a>, \u201cBack in Action,\u201d a Netflix film.<\/p>\n<p>With the country increasingly divided, holding any views outside those endorsed by the legacy media, which\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/news.gallup.com\/poll\/403166\/americans-trust-media-remains-near-record-low.aspx\">very few Americans trust<\/a>\u00a0nowadays, is bound to result in cruel attacks, especially from those within the Hollywood ecosystem. The latest target in the cycle is \u201cFull House\u201d star Candace Cameron Bure.<\/p>\n<p>Bure was discussing her new role at Great American Family, a burgeoning competitor to the Hallmark Channel, where the 46-year-old star established herself as the \u201cQueen of Christmas\u201d with a constant stream of holiday-themed films each year. She left Hallmark in April after 14 years with the network.<\/p>\n<p>During her\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.faithwire.com\/2022\/11\/15\/candace-cameron-bure-draws-clear-distinction-between-hallmark-and-great-american-family-as-new-network-rolls-out-christmas-movies\/\">recent interview<\/a>\u00a0with the Wall Street Journal, Bure, a chief content officer for GAF, said she was eager to work with \u201cChristians that love the Lord and wanted to promote faith programming and good family entertainment.\u201d She also noted that, unlike Hallmark, which is placing LGBTQ storylines into its films, GAF \u201cwill keep traditional marriage at the core.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Those comments resulted in scorn against Bure from others in Hollywood, with stars like Hilarie Burton of \u201cOne Tree Hill\u201d fame calling the Christian entertainer a \u201cbigot\u201d for her faith.
