Several faith-based films are available for Christian audiences to enjoy this fall. Offerings abound this season, and movie lovers can enjoy everything from a story about a rock star to one about a saint to a film about American freedom.<\/p>\n
In recent years, Americans’ appetite for faith-based content has grown. For example, the film “I Can Only Imagine,” based on the life story of Christian singer Bart Millard, brought in $17.1 million domestically during its opening weekend in 2018 and over $83 million overall, exceeding expectations.<\/p>\n
Although some thought the COVID-19 pandemic and lockdowns might stifle these films’ interest and success, audiences moved from movie theater seats to streaming services. Now theaters are back in full swing, and so is the amount of Christian content available.\u00a0Here are some of the faith-based films hitting theaters this fall.<\/p>\n
‘To Die For’<\/strong><\/p>\n Actor John Schneider stars in To Die For<\/a>,” which will be available on DVD and streaming at\u00a0CineflixDOD<\/a>\u00a0this month. The original film is being promoted as a passion project for Schneider, where he puts it all on the line for America. As the writer and director, Schneider takes a stand for patriotism and the American flag as he frequently does on social media. In a statement, Schneider shared, “We made this movie with a crew of under 10 people over the last 10 months because we had to. The madness has gotten to the point where something must be done. All great movements and reclamations begin with a single thought and a God-given means of expression. This is mine.” To learn more about ‘To Die For,’ click here.<\/a><\/p>\n ‘Paul\u2019s Promise\u2019<\/strong><\/p>\n The theatrical release \u201cPaul\u2019s Promise<\/a>\u201d will open in over 200 markets this month.\u00a0 The biopic is described as a film of \u201chope, faith and racial reconciliation.\u201d Featuring a star-studded cast, including Linda Purl, Nancy Stafford, Ryan O\u2019Quinn, Shari Rigby, Josef Cannon and Dean Cain.<\/p>\n Set during the height of the 1960s civil rights movement, \u201cPaul’s Promise” (Damascus Road Productions, Uptone Pictures and SaltShaker Media) is about a formerly racist firefighter-turned-pastor named Paul Holderfield Sr.\u00a0The film chronicles Holderfield’s impoverished upbringing, nights he went to bed hungry and listened to his mother pray for food for her children. The Home Entertainment release of the\u00a0film<\/a>\u00a0will be available on Dec. 6.<\/p>\n ‘First Responders’<\/strong><\/p>\n Releasing just before First Responders Day,\u00a0“First Responders”\u00a0<\/a>gives viewers a look inside the struggles faced by local heroes. The drama, written and produced by Rick Eldridge, stars “War Room” star Cameron Arnett, along with Chris Nelson, Karen Boles and Mari White. The film is an inspiring story that celebrates the vitality of marriage and the bonds of friendship that help firefighters, police officers and EMTs through the daily challenges they face.<\/p>\n ‘I Can’t Breathe’<\/strong><\/p>\n “I Can’t Breathe\u201d<\/a>\u00a0tells the story of Tom Laresca, a white man who went for a walk in 1998 in his suburban neighborhood in Boca Raton, Florida, that changed his life forever. The incident that nearly caused Laresca to lose his life is now the subject of the new movie, \u201cI Can\u2019t Breathe (God Forgive Them),\u201d starring Kevin Sorbo. Currently streaming on\u00a0Amazon<\/a>, the film shows how Laresca nearly lost his life while being assaulted and humiliated steps away from his house. An\u00a0article<\/a>\u00a0on JC Films reads, \u201cThe purpose of the film is to challenge those living in despair to seek God’s purpose in it. Satan would have you believe it is a stumbling block. God wants you to know it is a stepping stone.\u201d<\/p>\n
