It\u2019s been almost 30 years since someone last lit the Black Flame Candle, and the witches are back.\u00a0Hocus Pocus 2\u00a0<\/em>premieres on Disney+ on September 30. Hocus Pocus\u00a0<\/em>(1993) has become somewhat of a cult classic over the past decade, inspiring merchandise, spooky recipes, and\u00a0a Disney Parks stage show.\u00a0Most fans are thrilled that the original Sanderson sisters and Billy Butcherson (Doug Jones) are\u00a0reprising their roles in the film.<\/p>\n

Still, you can\u2019t please everyone. A viral Facebook post suggests Christians avoid Hocus Pocus and its upcoming sequel, claiming Hollywood is trying to indoctrinate children into witchcraft. Kelli Covil Duncan\u00a0wrote<\/a> in part, \u201cBut, back to the point, there are movies that can open children up to the \u201cglamor\u201d of the occult. It can make it look amazing to be a witch. It shows harmless seances and fun nights over a ouija board. But, I am here to say the occult is REAL. Witchcraft is REAL. The world wants it to seem like it\u2019s only in the movies, but I can guarantee you, the world is coming hard and fast for your kids.\u201d<\/p>\n

Duncan continued, \u201cOne movie we have said no to, that I literally watched every year as a child, is Hocus Pocus. In a world where predators are killing children (ummm, Hollywood elite drinking blood of children in real life is a rabbit hole you don\u2019t want to go down), it is hard for me to see the innocent fun of watching a movie where witches kill children so that they can stay young. I\u2019m sorry, I just can\u2019t make it make sense in my brain how we can be ok with that. There are children EVERY YEAR being taken from places where no one will miss them to be sacrificed by witches to satan. This is NOT make-believe!\u201d<\/p>\n

Duncan ended her post by saying Christian parents shouldn\u2019t want their children to take the occult route. She also recommended taking the time to ask the Holy Spirit what\u2019s best for your family. Numerous people in the comments agreed with Duncan\u2019s ideas, with one person commenting, \u201cAmen! 100% so much more to the spirit realm. It\u2019s an open door.\u201d<\/p>\n

Some mentioned Adrenochrome, a chemical compound discovered in the 1950s that is the subject of conspiracy theories online,\u00a0particularly from QAnon<\/a>. The conspiracy theory suggests that Hollywood elites harvest Adrenochrome from children\u2019s blood to stay young. There is no connection between\u00a0Hocus Pocus\u00a0<\/em>and the Adrenochrome conspiracy. The idea has been\u00a0disproven multiple times,<\/a>\u00a0though many believers are further encouraged by public controversy about its existence.<\/p>\n

Fall is a lot of people\u2019s favorite time of year. With it comes cooler sweater weather, state fairs, and everyone\u2019s favorite holiday, Halloween. Hocus Pocus <\/em>has become a big part of Halloween celebrations, with thousands of people watching it yearly. However, some believe that Hocus Pocus encourages children to practice the occult or delve deeper into what it is.<\/p>\n

As parents, you should monitor what your children watch and allow them to enjoy things, and use your judgment wisely. Perhaps you should watch Hocus Pocus 2 <\/em>with your children and explain the occult to them.
