Sean \u201cDiddy\u201d Combs recently hosted, and executive produced this year\u2019s Billboard Music Awards, vowing to \u201cun-cancel the canceled\u201d in an era steeped in the latter.<\/p>\n
He recently told Billboard, \u201cThe mood of the show is about love and forgiveness. As a musical family, none of us are saints; none of us are without things that happen to them in life. So one of the things I\u2019m doing directly is un-canceling the canceled. That\u2019s breaking news because people haven\u2019t been about un-canceling. But canceling is a trend that needs to stop.\u201d<\/p>\n
At least two of the artists who performed at this year\u2019s Billboard Music Awards show, which aired Sunday, have drawn scorn from the public. Country singer Morgan Wallen was\u00a0caught on video using the N-word\u00a0while visibly intoxicated and stumbling back into his residence.<\/p>\n
Rapper Travis Scott has been entangled in controversy since his Astroworld festival in November of last year, where\u00a010 people were killed\u00a0when the crowd stampeded toward the stage.<\/p>\n
One woman who attended the event \u00a0is suing Scott, claiming\u00a0her unborn child died\u00a0due to her being \u201ctrampled and crushed, resulting in horrific injuries, and ultimately the death of her and [her husband] Jarawd\u2019s unborn child.\u201d Some accused the show of being \u201csatanic.\u201d<\/p>\n
Combs said neither Wallen nor Scott should be canceled over their errors, calling the horror linked to Scott\u2019s festival performance last fall \u201ca tragedy.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cPeople make mistakes,\u201d said Combs. \u201cNow we\u2019re moving on with love and respect for everybody hurt or affected. It\u2019s time to forgive. To have Morgan and Travis be able to come back and touch the stage again with the mindset of getting a second chance at life. Everybody in the room is getting a second chance at life, you know because we\u2019re back inside with no masks on. We need love, and I\u2019m excited about celebrating that.\u201d According to an Instagram post by Combs, he \u201cdemanded\u201d NBC allow Scott to perform.<\/p>\n
