Actor and comedian Kel Mitchell experienced incredible success in Hollywood. However, personal struggles clouded his life and perspective and brought him to the brink of suicide.<\/p>\n
Mitchell, author of\u00a0\u201cBlessed Mode: 90 Days to Level Up Your Faith\u201d\u00a0and star of Nickelodeon\u2019s \u201cAll That\u201d and \u201cKenan & Kel,\u201d grew up in a Christian household but fell away from his faith after achieving fame.<\/p>\n
\u201cI grew up in the church,\u201d he told CBN\u2019s Faithwire. \u201cMy grandfather was a pastor, but there is a difference between basically knowing God and having a relationship with God.\u201d After landing hit TV and movie roles, Mitchell battled intense depression and frustration before hitting a turning point that transformed his perspective.<\/p>\n
\u201cI was just kind of like, \u2018I want to [hit] the off button,\u201d he said of his past emotional struggles. \u201cWhen I decided not to take my life at that point, and I decided to live, that\u2019s when things changed around for me.\u201d The process wasn\u2019t immediate, but Mitchell was determined to make God \u201cthe head\u201d of his life, realizing the Lord was with him no matter what unfolded.<\/p>\n
\u201cI started to change things in my life that were not of God,\u201d he said. As Mitchell prayed for guidance, he stated that God started to remove toxic people and things, showing him the proper path forward.<\/p>\n
\u201cI went through a lot of ups and downs within my life and within my career,\u201d he said. \u201cAnd in those downtimes, God was always there \u2014 He was there in the ups and in the downs.\u201d Mitchell was in for another surprise after sharing his story with young people. What started as a healing journey to inspire others ended up a missional calling.<\/p>\n
