He was discovered by American record executive Scooter Braun when he was just 13 years old. He was signed the following year to RBMG Records and skyrocketed to fame and fortune with his debut EP\u00a0<em>My World.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Justin would soon be consumed in a world of chaos as his new fortune would come to a lot of trouble and controversy. The 27-year-old pop star recently talked to\u00a0<em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gq.com\/story\/justin-bieber-cover-profile-may-2021\">GQ<\/a>\u00a0<\/em>about that journey from wild child to doting husband and man of faith.<\/p>\n<p>At the height of his career, he experimented with drugs and it quickly spiraled out of control. His bodyguards would check his pulse at night just to make sure he was still alive. It started with marijuana use at 12 or 13 and grew to alcohol, lean back sizzurp (a concoction of cough syrup, soda, and hard candy, taking pills, MDMA, and even mushrooms. Bieber said he wanted to get sober after he felt like he was dying. \u201cI was doing too much, and it was time to change.\u201d<\/p>\n<h3><strong>\u201cYou wake up one day and\u2026you\u2019re unhappy and you have all this success in the world, but you\u2019re just like:\u00a0<\/strong><em><strong>Well, what is this worth if I\u2019m still feeling empty inside?<\/strong><\/em><strong>\u201d<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>He also discussed his relationship with his wife Hailey Baldwin saying this:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have a wife who I adore, who I feel comforted by. I feel safe. I feel like my relationship with God is wonderful. And I have this outpouring of love that I want to be able to share with people, you know?\u201d Bieber told journalist Zach Baron.<\/p>\n<p>Hailey\u2019s father Stephen Baldwin introduced the pair back in 2009 backstage after an appearance on The Today Show. They became good friends and would stay in touch over the years but eventually started dating in 2016. They had bumped into each other at a church conference in Miami. And there\u2019s a quote; I\u2019m trying to remember it. I don\u2019t know if it\u2019s biblical, if it\u2019s in the Bible. But I do remember this quote:\u00a0<em>The comforted become the comforters.<\/em>\u00a0I don\u2019t know if you\u2019ve heard that before. But I really do feel comforted. I have a wife who I adore, who I feel comforted by. I feel safe. I feel like my relationship with God is wonderful. And I have this outpouring of love that I want to be able to share with people, you know?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Canadian superstar is aware of the public&#8217;s perception of him. He also hopes that people can ultimately change their opinion as he has grown over the years and similar to a snake shedding its skin, he has shed his wild ways.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t want to let the shame of my past dictate what I\u2019m able to do now for people,\u201d Bieber says. \u201cA lot of people let their past weigh them down, and they never do what they want to do because they think that they\u2019re not good enough. But I\u2019m just like: \u2018I did a bunch of stupid sh**. That\u2019s okay. I\u2019m still available. I\u2019m still available to help. And I\u2019m still worthy of helping.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Justin credits his faith and his marriage as the keys to bringing him back to a grounded life. His home life had always been unstable, and he dreamed of having a family and eating dinner together. He felt that he was always destined to be married and have kids. While he and Hailey do not currently have any children, he said it will be Hailey\u2019s choice when they do and he\u2019s very excited.<\/p>\n<p>His marriage to Hailey was no walk in the park and he was open about struggling in his first year as a husband.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe first year of marriage was really tough,\u201d he says, \u201cbecause there was a lot, going back to the trauma stuff. There was just lack of trust. There was all these things that you don\u2019t want to admit to the person that you\u2019re with, because it\u2019s scary. You don\u2019t want to scare them off by saying, \u2018I\u2019m scared.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>When\u00a0<em>GQ<\/em> asked Justin\u2019s good friend Chance The Rapper why they were so happy in the music industry that is known for tearing people down, Chance responded with:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBoth of us, our secret sauce is Jesus, Justin doesn\u2019t fake the funk. He goes to Jesus with his problems, he goes to Jesus with his successes. He calls me just to talk about Jesus. Justin is blessed. Some people are blessed that don\u2019t have anything, but you can feel it off them. When he spoke of God he said:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEvery time we mess up, He\u2019s picking us back up every single time. That\u2019s how I view it. And so it\u2019s like, \u2018I made a mistake. I won\u2019t dwell in it. I don\u2019t sit in shame. But it actually makes me want to do better.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>His desire to belong and have stability ultimately led to a conversation with God where Justin asked<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGod, if you\u2019re real, I need you to help me, because I can\u2019t do this on my own. Like, I\u2019m struggling so hard. Every decision I make is out of my own selfish ego.\u2019 So I\u2019m just like, \u2018What is it that you want from me? You put all these desires in my heart for me to sing and perform and to make music\u2014where are these coming from? Why is this in my heart? What do you want me to do with it? What\u2019s the point? What is the point of everything? What is the point of me being on this planet?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>After gaining clarity from the man above, Justin started embracing all the mundane aspects of life to become a better man and husband to Hailey. She is his top priority and even talked about refusing to work after 6 pm so he could spend time with his wife. He attempted to go to the studio one day after 5:30 to finish his latest album\u00a0<em>Justice<\/em>, but Hailey stopped him in his tracks.
