Ubiquitous among celebrities, including Madonna, Demi Moore, Ashton Kutcher and even Paris Hilton, the trendy talisman of Jewish mystical tradition has made its way to center ice.<\/p>\n<p>Cohen, who skated her way to first place after the women\u2019s short program last night, was introduced to the bracelet&#8211;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.kabbalah.com\/k\/index.php\/p=life\/tools?ref=quigo&amp;kw=kabbalah+bracelet&amp;source=ink\" target=\"_new\">thought to ward off evil and negative thoughts<\/a>&#8211;by ice skating teammate <a href=\"http:\/\/www.figureskatersonline.com\/johnnyweir\/\" target=\"_new\">Johnny Weir<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201dI&#8217;m not deeply into Kabbalah,\u201d Cohen said on <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nbcolympics.com\/figureskating\/5091611\/detail.html\" target=\"_new\">NBCOlympics.com<\/a> when asked if she was wearing a Kabbalah bracelet at Nationals, \u201cbut I appreciate the principles of it&#8230;. Johnny Weir tied that one on me the year before.\u201d Another teammate, U.S. men&#8217;s figure skater <a href=\"http:\/\/www.figureskatersonline.com\/evanlysacek\/\" target=\"_new\">Evan Lysacek<\/a>, tied on this most recent bracelet.<\/p>\n<p>While Cohen may not be a devotee of Kabbalah, the flamboyant Weir is. &#8220;A friend introduced me to Kabbalah actually before Esther (Madonna) started doing it,\u201d Weir told <a href=\"http:\/\/www.salon.com\/ent\/feature\/2005\/03\/16\/weir\/index1.html\" target=\"_new\">Salon<\/a>. \u201cFor a while I was getting a big head about how good I was becoming and what was going on with me, and it just sort of helped me stay centered and that sort of thing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Weir says he wears a Kabbalah star charm on his necklace, as well as the red string that &#8220;kind of saves you from other people dissing you.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately for the three-time national champion, his bracelet may need to work harder, since many in sports media have been <a href=\"http:\/\/www.msnbc.msn.com\/id\/3298669\/from\/RSS\/\" target=\"_new\">savaging him<\/a> for his comments blaming his poor performance and fifth-place finish on <a href=\"http:\/\/www.northjersey.com\/page.php?qstr=eXJpcnk3ZjczN2Y3dnFlZUVFeXkxMDYmZmdiZWw3Zjd2cWVlRUV5eTY4ODExMzAmeXJpcnk3ZjcxN2Y3dnFlZUVFeXky\" target=\"_new\">missing the bus and bad auras<\/a>.
