Christian basketball star Stephen \u201cSteph\u201d Curry is concerned about vulnerable voters on Election Day. He is encouraging faith leaders across the nation to serve as poll chaplains to guarantee a fair, free, and safe election.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re in dangerous and urgent times across our country, and we need to act now,\u201d said Stephen Curry, as he urged young senior pastors of Christian congregations to volunteer election protection chaplains according to a press release.<\/p>\n

The Golden State Warriors champion is working with three national faith-based organizations to mobilize 1,000 young senior pastors across the country to have a peaceful and moral presence at the polls. The YP 1000 effort is part of the 2020 Turnout Sunday and Lawyers & Collars Campaign.<\/p>\n

These organizations are addressing suppression tactics in nine battleground states at 60 polling sites. These states include Alabama, Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Michigan, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin.<\/p>\n

In addition to having fully equipped election protection lawyers to address suppression tactics and voter intimidation, they also have a clergy Election Day Hotline & Command Center supporting their efforts.
\nRight now, these nonprofits have organized nearly 700 black clergy and allies who are committed to the cause.<\/p>\n

Some of the committed organizations include the National African American Clergy Network, the Skinner Leadership Institute, Sojourners, and the Lawyers\u2019 Committee for Civil Rights Under Law.<\/p>\n
