The star of \u201cParks and Rec\u201d and \u201cGuardians of the Galaxy\u201d was also mocked for his Christian faith.<\/em><\/p>\n

Fans of the blockbuster movie series \u201cThe Avengers\u201d can virtually hang out with six of the stars Tuesday if they contribute to Joe Biden\u2019s presidential campaign.<\/p>\n

But it\u2019s an actor who\u2019s not attending who\u2019s getting most of the attention on Twitter \u2014 and much of it is hate.<\/p>\n

Chris Pratt, known for his roles in \u201cGuardians of the Galaxy\u201d as well as \u201cParks and Rec,\u201d was blasted on the social media platform by people who said his conspicuous absence was evidence of his secret support of President Donald Trump. From there, the conversation devolved into criticism of Pratt\u2019s Christian faith and the church he attends, which was a source of controversy last year.<\/p>\n

The attention began innocently enough on Saturday when screenwriter Amy Berg posted pictures of four actors named Chris \u2014 Pratt, Chris Pine, Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth \u2014 along with the line \u201cOne has to go.\u201d (\u201cOne has to go\u201d is a common Twitter meme, in which people vote out the least popular of four options.)<\/p>\n

When people began to select Pratt, they mentioned his membership in a conservative church and speculated that he supports President Donald Trump. \u201cChris Pratt because he\u2019s MAGA. He\u2019s the worst Chris,\u201d one Twitter user wrote. Soon, people began mentioning his absence in the fundraiser as proof.<\/p>\n

Another Avenger who is not participating in the Biden event, however \u2014 Robert Downey Jr. \u2014 has not been called out for his absence.<\/p>\n

Unlike some of his fellow Avengers, Pratt has never spoken publicly about who he supports, although it\u2019s been reported that he donated money to President Barack Obama\u2019s campaign in 2012, according to Newsweek magazine. And Pratt\u2019s wife, Katherine Schwarzenegger, is supporting Biden, according to multiple news outlets. (If the name sounds familiar, that\u2019s because she\u2019s the daughter of Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver.)<\/p>\n

That didn\u2019t absolve Pratt, though. Twitter users appeared to be on the hunt for evidence of Trump support, seemingly combing through the accounts he follows on Twitter in search of a smoking gun.<\/p>\n

Some people, however, came to Pratt\u2019s defense, including Brandon Morse, who tweeted \u201cChris Pratt is one of the few celebrities I actually respect. He\u2019s different, and they hate him for it. I say good for him.\u201d<\/p>\n

Pratt himself has been quiet on the matter. His most recent social media posts include an Instagram video of him practicing putting in what appears to be his house and solving a Rubik\u2019s Cube in under a minute.<\/p>\n

He has been more open about his Christian faith, leading his Instagram bio with Philippians 4:13 (\u201cI can do all things through Christ which strengthened me\u201d) and saying on Twitter, \u201cI love my family, friends, jokes, Jesus, movies, stories, outdoors, golf.\u201d<\/p>\n

He previously weathered criticism over his divorce to Anna Faris and over accusations that the church he attends is against gay and trans people, which he has denied. \u201cNothing could be further from the truth. I go to a church that opens their doors to absolutely everyone,\u201d he wrote last year on Instagram.<\/p>\n

Pratt reportedly attends Zoe Church in Los Angeles and has said he\u2019s been a committed Christian since he was introduced to Jesus Christ by a stranger when he was a teen.<\/p>\n

With or without Pratt, the virtual fundraiser, which starts at 6:45 p.m. Eastern, will feature \u201cAvengers\u201d cast members Don Cheadle, Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Paul Rudd, Mark Ruffalo and Zoe Saldana, as well as Anthony Russo and Joseph Russo, who directed four films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.<\/p>\n

Biden\u2019s running mate, Sen. Kamala Harris, will also participate in the event which will include a question-and-answer session with the stars, and Avengers trivia.<\/p>\n
