Underwood responded in the best way.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Carrie Underwood and Thomas Rhett tied for &#8216;Entertainer of the Year&#8217; at the Academy of Country Music Awards, one of country music&#8217;s biggest entertainment awards.<\/p>\n<p>This was the third time Underwood received this award and Rhett&#8217;s first time.<\/p>\n<p>Fans on social media expressed their disbelief and dissatisfaction with the decision. Many expressed that she should not have had to share the award and misogynistic CNN reports.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;You couldn&#8217;t stand to give it to a female just one freaking year, so you make her share it and award the male as well?!&#8221; one person tweeted.<\/p>\n<p>While many fans were unhappy, Underwood was gracious about sharing the win.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Keith, what is happening right now,&#8221; Rhett told the show&#8217;s host, Keith Urban, before going into his acceptance speech.<br \/>\nUnderwood followed his acceptance speech with her own, acknowledging and &#8220;giving all glory to God.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Thank you to the ACM not just for this (award) but for putting me in such incredible company,&#8221; Underwood said. &#8220;I am more than happy to share this with Thomas Rhett and just to have my name mentioned with his.&#8221;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Many fans of the Christian country singer were not happy about the shared win, saying misogyny played a role in the decision.
