The Passion of the Christ 2<\/em> screenwriter Randall Wallace shared an important update on Mel Gibson\u2019s biblical sequel, which will focus on the events that occurred three days between the crucifixion and the Resurrection.<\/p>\n

In an interview with Polygon, Wallace said that the movie is something they are discussing.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe both consider that the Mount Everest of all stories,\u201d Wallace said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s a theologian named NT Wright, that I heard recently in a lecture … I am Christian, I\u2019ve always been taken with the Resurrection.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a profound mystery, and NT Wright says, \u2018If you don\u2019t find the Resurrection preposterous, you\u2019re missing the point,\u2019\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Wallace continued, \u201cIt\u2019s literally the mind-blowing event that is beyond anything we can make sense or imagine.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd yet the earliest Christians died saying \u2018It happened, I believe it.<\/p>\n

\u201cOr even \u2018I witnessed it.\u2019 And that\u2019s something that is a magnificent goal.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe continue to discuss it. We\u2019re not ready to talk about it at all about what we\u2019re planning to do,\u201d the Passion of the Christ 2<\/em> screenwriter said.<\/p>\n

When asked about his and Gibson\u2019s progress on the film, Wallace shared, \u201cI think we would rather do all of our homework before we start to make sense what we\u2019re gonna do with it.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cMy mother used to say to me, everything worth having is worth what you had to pay for it, and what you had to go through to get it.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd so yeah, the stories that require the most sacrifice may be the ones that are exactly what we ought to be looking to do.\u201d<\/p>\n

Gibson has led the way in Christian entertainment by promoting religious films. He made headlines in 2004 when he made The Passion of the Christ<\/em> about the final hours of Jesus\u2019 life. The film stormed the box office, making over $622 million on a budget of just $30 million.<\/p>\n
