The singer has relied on God through life\u2019s toughest storms.<\/p>\n

In a recent interview with Zane Lowe on Apple Music\u2019s Beats 1, Lovato opened up about how God pulls her though her most difficult seasons of life.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen I\u2019m going through a rough time, I look toward the future for hope to change perspective on things. When I go through something difficult, I stop and think, Why is God putting me through this?,\u201d Lovato told Lowe in her interview. \u201cSometimes it doesn\u2019t make sense in that moment,\u201d she said in an interview with Zane Lowe on Apple Music\u2019s Beats 1.\u201d<\/p>\n

Lovato has battled alcohol and drug addiction over the years. At one point, she considered leaving music following an overdose.<\/p>\n

God was able to pull her through those dark moments and get her to a healthy place again.<\/p>\n

Her newest song, \u201cAnyone,\u201d was recorded right before her drug overdose in July 2018.<\/p>\n

She made a powerful come back at the Grammy\u2019s this year, performing the song which addresses her longtime battle with loneliness and substance abuse.<\/p>\n

The lyrics open up: \u201cI tried to talk to my piano, I tried to talk to my guitar, talk to my imagination, confided in alcohol. I tried and tried and tried some more. Told secrets ’til my voice was sore. Tired of empty conversation. ‘Cause no one hears me anymore.\u201d<\/p>\n

Later in the song, she calls on the Lord to \u2018send her anyone\u2019 to pull her through: \u201cAnyone, please send me anyone. Lord, is there anyone? I need someone, oh, anyone, please send me anyone. Lord, is there anyone? I need someone.\u201d<\/p>\n

She told Lowe that she tried to find God through \u201cother relationships,\u201d and \u201csubstances\u201d. She felt he was far away. Then she realized that God was always at an arm\u2019s length and constantly with her.<\/p>\n

Last year, the former Disney Star was baptized in the Jordan River, the same location that Jesus was baptized by John the Baptism.<\/p>\n

\u201cTo be baptized in the Jordan river \u2014 the same place Jesus was baptized \u2014 I\u2019ve never felt more renewed in my life,\u201d Lovato said. \u201cThis trip has been so important for my well-being, my heart, and my soul. I\u2019m grateful for the memories made and the opportunity to be able to fill the God-sized hole in my heart\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n

Lovato blew fans and viewers away with her performance of the national anthem at Super Bowl LIV.<\/p>\n

In 2010, Lovato tweeted about her dreams of singing the national anthem during the game and the moment really came around full circle.<\/p>\n
