Although, I usually care less about the winners than I do about the performances, I decided this year to make some predictions for selected categories that are relevant to Beliefnet (or that I just wanted to sound off on). Please keep in mind, this list is non-scientific and not based on record sales or anything except my own personal love and hate of various artists. Oh yeah, and they don&#8217;t reflect the opinions of Beliefnet, yada, yada, yada.<\/p>\n<p><strong><\/strong><span style=\"font-size:130%\"><strong>Album of the Year<\/strong><br \/><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>&#8220;The Emancipation Of Mimi,&#8221; Mariah Carey<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;Chaos And Creation In The Backyard,&#8221; Paul McCartney<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;Love. Angel. Music. Baby,&#8221; Gwen Stefani<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb,&#8221; U2<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;Late Registration,&#8221; Kanye West<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>My pick: <\/strong>I think my co-workers would start throwing things at me if I went up against U2. So I&#8217;d have to choose &#8220;How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb.&#8221; For my own safety&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Who will win:<\/strong> &#8220;Late Registration,&#8221; Kanye West. Why? Because Kanye controls America.<\/p>\n<p><strong><\/strong><strong><span style=\"font-size:130%\"><br \/>Best Gospel Performance<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>&#8220;Be Blessed,&#8221; Yolanda Adams<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;Looking For You,&#8221; Kirk Franklin<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;I Call You Faithful,&#8221; Donnie McClurkin<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;Lift Him Up,&#8221; Hezekiah Walker &amp; Love Fellowship Choir<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;Pray,&#8221; Cece Winans<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>My pick:<\/strong> This is a tough one, since this catagory is chock full of talent&#8211;more than any of the others. I&#8217;d have to go with &#8220;Looking For You,&#8221; Kirk Franklin. I really feel this should be Kirk&#8217;s year.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Who will win:<\/strong> CeCe Winans. Why? Because she&#8217;s CeCe Winans.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-size:130%\"><br \/><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-size:130%\">Best Rock Gospel Album<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>&#8220;Until My Heart Caves In,&#8221; Audio Adrenaline<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;Higher Definition,&#8221; The Cross Movement<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;Day of Fire,&#8221; Day of Fire<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;Truth Is Fallin&#8217; In Tha Streetz,&#8221; Fresh I.E.<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;Dichotomy B,&#8221; Grits<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>My pick:<\/strong> By far one of my favorite albums&#8211;including mainstream albums&#8211; of last year was Day of Fire&#8217;s self-titled debut. This is how Christian rock <em>should<\/em> be done. <\/p>\n<p><strong>Who will win:<\/strong> &#8220;Until My Heart Caves In.&#8221; Because Audio A will be retiring later this year. It will be a pity win.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size:130%\"><strong><br \/><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size:130%\"><strong>Best Rock Song<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>&#8220;Best of You,&#8221; Foo Fighters<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;Beverly Hills,&#8221;Weezer<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;City of Blinding Lights,&#8221; U2<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;Devils &amp; Dust,&#8221; Bruce Springsteen<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;Speed of Sound,&#8221; Coldplay<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>My pick:<\/strong> &#8220;Beverly Hills,&#8221; Weezer.  I&#8217;m rooting for the underdog here.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Who will win:<\/strong> &#8220;City of Blinding Lights,&#8221; U2. Why? Because the people in the Recording Academy who decide the winners want to go to heaven&#8211;they&#8217;d be stupid to vote against God&#8217;s favorite band.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-size:130%\"><br \/><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-size:130%\">Best Pop\/Contemporary Gospel Album<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>&#8220;Lifesong,&#8221; Casting Crowns<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;All I Really Want For Christmas,&#8221; Steven Curtis Chapman<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;Redemption Songs,&#8221; Jars of Clay<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;Hymn,&#8221; Out of Eden<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;Healing Rain,&#8221; Michael W. Smith<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;Live Wire,&#8221; Third Day<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>My pick:<\/strong> I want to say, &#8220;Live Wire,&#8221; because Third Day really knows how to rock (sometimes).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Who will win:<\/strong> &#8220;Lifesong,&#8221; Casting Crowns.
