Actor Brad Pitt called himself an atheist as an act of rebellion. Then there was a shift and his faith changed in a major way.<\/p>\n

In an interview with GQ, the \u201cAd Astra\u201d star said he \u201cclings to religion.\u201d Pitt talked openly and candidly about the evolution of his faith. He shared that he\u2019s \u201cgone through everything\u201d when it comes to religion.<\/p>\n

Pitt grew up in a devout Southern Baptist family. While he questioned religion growing up, he felt like it worked at times, he said.<\/p>\n

He also shared that he struggled with \u201cChristian guilt\u201d growing up around what he should and shouldn\u2019t do. His family attended Christian revival meetings when he was in high school.<\/p>\n

When he would attend the revival meetings, he felt \u201cmoved by the Holy Spirit.\u201d But when he would go to rock concerts, he said he would \u201cfeel the same fervor.\u201d<\/p>\n

He continued to question religion in college when he enrolled as a journalism student at the University of Missouri in Columbia, where he later dropped out to pursue his acting career.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen I got out on my own, I completely left it and I called myself agnostic,\u201d Pitt shared with GQ. \u201cTried a few spiritual things but didn\u2019t feel right.\u201d<\/p>\n

He shared that he began to call himself an atheist for a while as an act of rebellion though he wasn\u2019t really.<\/p>\n

Over time, his mindset began to shift.<\/p>\n

He eventually found himself coming back to what he truly believes in.<\/p>\n

\u201cI found myself coming back around to just belief in \u2013 I hate to use the word spirituality but just a belief in that we\u2019re all connected,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The evolution of his faith has changed the way he looks at life. Today, he is very optimistic about the possibility that everyone is connected.<\/p>\n

During the interview, he also talked about self-awareness, getting old and figuring out what really matters.<\/p>\n
