The new movie &#8220;Mary Magdalene&#8221;, out today, changes this view and puts Mary at the forefront of Jesus&#8217; story by giving her the spotlight, and seeing the Bible through a women&#8217;s eyes.<\/p>\n<p>From the start of the movie, we see Mary (played by Rooney Mara) as a strong female character that isn&#8217;t ready to conform to what her family wants her to be. They can only imagine that Mary has been possessed. She\u2019s visited by Jesus of Nazareth (Joaquin Phoenix), who tells her that no demons live inside of her and asks her to follow Him.<\/p>\n<p>The movie then continues with the journey of Jesus&#8217; life, as it would have been seen by Mary. She confronts what it means to be a women in Biblical times and battles with the other apostles, all while presenting herself as a peaceful, yet strong and soulful female.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s an important take in today&#8217;s society, where feminism has been sprung back to life.
