John Fugelsang recently released another Twitter rant about Christian supporters of President Trump. In his latest tweet, the actor claimed that Trump supporters were \u201ccompletely illiterate\u201d when it came to understanding the teachings of Jesus.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe only reason you\u2019re president is that 62 million self-described Christians were completely illiterate about Jesus\u2019 teachings,\u201d Fugelsang tweeted on Monday, January 28, 2019. \u201cEvery time Trump mentions the Bible, an angel coughs up blood.\u201d<\/p>\n

This is hardly the first time that Fugelsang has disparaged Christian supporters of Trump. In July, he claimed that Christian Trump supporters were \u201cfake Christians.\u201d Around the same time, Fugelsang claimed that actress Stacey Dash was \u201cstupid\u201d and a \u201cpuppet\u201d because she criticized the Black Entertainment Television Awards and Black Entertainment Television channel.<\/p>\n

Fugelsang\u2019s anger at Christians who tend to favor conservative values and candidates predates Trump\u2019s presidency by several years. His vicious words also have a longer history. In 2014, he compared Christians who tended to favor conservative policies rather than liberal ones to the Roman soldiers who tortured and executed Jesus. Fugelsang claimed that Jesus was \u201canti-public prayer\u2026never anti-gay, didn\u2019t mentioned abortion, didn\u2019t mention premarital sex\u2026[and] couldn\u2019t get a job at House of Pancakes in this society now.\u201d Thus, Fugelsang claimed, conservative Christians \u201cwould be the first ones lining up to nail Him [to the cross] all over again.\u201d<\/p>\n

Fugelsang\u2019s rants have not earned Christian anger as much as Christian scorn. Some Christian blogs\u00a0have taken the time to deconstruct Fugelsang\u2019s comments<\/a>\u00a0and compare each line or phrase with Bible verses.<\/a><\/p>\n

Fugelsang\u2019s latest rant came after President Trump tweeted that he was delighted to hear that some states were reintroducing Bible literacy classes into public schools. \u201cNumerous states introducing Bible literacy classes, giving students the option of studying the Bible,\u201d Trump tweeted on Sunday, January 29, 2019. \u201cStarting to make a turn back? Great!\u201d<\/p>\n

No one knows yet what will set Fugelsang off next, but there is no doubt that there will be another social media rant about \u201cfake\u201d or biblically \u201cilliterate\u201d Christians coming soon.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
