The \u201cComplicated\u201d singer said in September, when the single debuted, that it\u2019s important for her to use her celebrity platform \u201cto bring awareness to the severity of Lyme disease.\u201d<\/p>\n

In an interview with Billboard, Lavigne said she\u2019s not sure when she might have been bitten by a tick.<\/p>\n

\u201cI had accepted that I was dying,\u201d she said. \u201cAnd I felt in that moment like I was underwater and drowning, and I was trying to come up to gasp for air. And literally under my breath, I was like, \u2018God, help me keep my head above the water.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n
