On Monday, October 15, 2018, Kensington Palace announced that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, are expecting their first child. The baby is expected to be born in the spring of 2019. The news comes less than five months after the two royals tied the knot in May 2018 in a wedding that was watched by millions of people around the globe.<\/p>\n<p>The new baby will be seventh in line for the throne, right behind Prince Harry. The current heir to the throne is Charles, Prince of Wales, followed by William, Duke of Cambridge, Prince George of Cambridge and then Princess Charlotte of Cambridge. Also ahead of the new baby will be Prince Louis, the third child of Prince William and Kate Middleton.<\/p>\n<p>This year has been a busy one for the royals as both Prince Harry and Princess Eugenie tied the knot with Meghan Markle and Jack Brooksbank respectively. There have also been two royal babies born this year, Prince Louis Arthur Charles, who was born to Prince William and Kate, and Lena Elizabeth, born to Zara and Mike Tindall who do not have royal titles as they are descended from the female line through the Princess Royal, Princess Anne.<\/p>\n<p>Though the birth of Meghan and Harry\u2019s baby is still months away, bookies are already taking bets on both the gender and the name. Given that Meghan is from the United States, Americans are also weighing in with unusual fervor. The current frontrunners, according to the bookies, are Alexander, Arthur, Philip, Albert or Nicholas for a boy, and Alice, Victoria, Mary, Isabella and Eleanor for a girl. Given that predictions were pretty far off the mark with the name of Prince Louis, there is no telling if the name Meghan and Harry decide on will even be on the bookies\u2019 lists.
