Jon Voight, an Oscar-winning actor well-known for his support of Donald Trump as president, was literally moved to tears in an interview when he recalled an encounter he had with a woman about Trump. While he was traveling, Voight spoke with a \u201cconservative actress, a very good one\u201d who had also voted for Trump in the last election. Voight asked her, \u201cSo, what do you think about our man,\u201d referring to President Trump. In response, the woman silently placed her hand on her heart. As Voight recounted the details of the exchange to conservative commentator Mark Levin in an interview for Fox News, Voight teared up on camera.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat\u2019s me crying,\u201d Voight said. \u201cBut it was her too, saying\u2013so, first of all the gesture was so beautiful, she couldn\u2019t even speak. She was just saying, \u2018Thank God.\u2019 And I say, \u2018Thank God.\u2019 And one of the reasons I can say, \u2018Thank God,\u2019 is because I know He is there for us all.\u201d<\/p>\n

In the interview, Voight also spoke about how in today\u2019s increasingly secular society \u201cone of the things we\u2019ve lost is this compass of God. What did Karl Marx come up with,\u201d Voight asked. \u201cHe eliminated God from the picture and said, \u2018We can do it without this.\u2019 Not these boys, not our guys,\u201d Voight said as he pointed to the portraits of the Founding Fathers in Levin\u2019s studio. \u201cThey knew very well, \u2018We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal. They are endowed by our Creator and among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.\u201d<\/p>\n

Voight also remarked on the \u201cgenius of the architecture of [the United States\u2019] founding, this Constitution, where it came from. The Bill of Rights and the Declaration [of Independence] \u2026 [Levin,] you understand the genius of them to say the pursuit of happiness\u201d as opposed to a more traditional listing of mere survival needs. There was also special genius in noting that the inalienable rights came not from a human government that could later take them away, but from God Himself as an intrinsic part of human existence.<\/p>\n

The 79 year old actor has spoken about his Catholic faith and the importance of religion in modern life in the past. In 2016, he stated that faith \u201ckeeps you humble\u201d but that it was also the key to moving forward in times of difficulty. \u201cIt keeps you in energy to keep going, overcome things, solve problems, be good, think of others, all that stuff,\u201d he said. \u201cSo my faith has been very important to me.\u201d<\/p>\n

Hopefully, the \u201ccompass\u201d of both Voight and the unnamed actress continue to hold strong in the face of Hollywood\u2019s heavily anti-Christian culture.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
