“Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle” is looking to have a three-peat at the U.S. box office this weekend.<\/p>\n
Starring Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart, it has won the first two weekend of 2018 after debuting in the shadow of “Star Wars: The Last Jedi.” It has began to significantly outperform forecasts,\u00a0but will face challenges from new movies like the war drama “12 Strong” and the thriller “Den of Thieves” this weekend.<\/p>\n
“Jumanji” is likely to take in another $15 to $20 million this weekend, which will lift it’s total take to around $320 million. This sets the action-comedy up to be one of the top 60 domestic performers of all time, which is suspected to increase over the next few weeks. Internationally the movie has also been successful, bringing in an impressive $385 million so far.\u00a0“Jumanji” is the eighth highest grosser released in 2017.<\/p>\n
The squeal to the 1995 family classic takes the story of a board game that’s come to life and brings it to the digital age.\u00a0A group of teens is transformed into avatars and trapped inside a video game jungle, where there only way out is to beat the game. The group works together to survive various lethal obstacles (including hippos, rhinos and wildcats) to restore a secret gem to it’s rightful place on top a mountain.<\/p>\n
