Roberts played the role of Marie Barone, an obnoxious mother-in-law living across the street from her son Raymond (Ray Romano) and his wife Deborah (Patty Heaton). \u201cEverybody Loves Raymond\u201d became the longest sitcom to run on the network, and morphed into an American icon. The show ran for nine seasons, and is still treasured today. Her television family shared their thoughts on her passing.<\/p>\n<p>Heaton Tweeted that it was an end to an era. \u201cTruly the end of an era. My wonderful TV mother-in-law and ELR nemesis Doris Roberts was a consummate professional from whom I learned so much,&#8221; she said in a statement along with a photo of herself with Roberts. &#8220;She was funny and tough and loved life, living it to the fullest. Nothing gave her greater joy that her three wonderful grandchildren, of whom she was so proud. It truly was a privilege Doris. I love you and miss you.&#8221;\u00a0Roberts, who started acting during the 1950s, won numerous awards for her role on the sitcom and worked for over six decades in television and films. Fans will also remember her role in \u201cRemington Steele\u201d during the 1980s where she played secretary Mildred Krebs. Roberts was awarded five Emmy awards over her career.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement Romano shared that Roberts was simply an amazing woman who was full of life and spirit.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe never stopped. Whether working professionally or with her many charities, or just nurturing and mentoring a green young comic trying to make it as an actor, she did everything with such a grand love for life and people and I\u00a0will miss her dearly.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Here are a couple of quotes from Marie B.!<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Ray, we told you you were a good writer so that you would think you were a good writer.
