I look at my boys and I see their disappointment.<\/p>\n

I remember a day when they wanted me to break free.<\/p>\n

I wasn’t shrewd enough to know attempting to leave was naive. I didn’t know there were some people who would never let you go. Who would make moving on impossible. A game where there would always be a winner and a loser.<\/p>\n

I didn’t know that divorce would leave me less able to protect them – when I sought it TO protect them.<\/p>\n

I didn’t know.<\/p>\n

But I do know…<\/strong><\/p>\n

Some women stay.<\/em><\/p>\n

They pretend the grass isn’t greener.<\/p>\n

They reject the legacy that staying makes certain for their children.<\/p>\n

They lose the self-respect that every single human being is gifted.<\/p>\n

They kid themselves that no one is truly happy.<\/p>\n

They let someone who once promised to protect them, mistreat them.<\/p>\n

I do know…<\/em><\/p>\n

Some women stay.<\/strong><\/p>\n

I didn’t stay.<\/em><\/p>\n

Because I am strong.<\/p>\n

Because I knew the grass could be greener.<\/p>\n

Because I knew the legacy that staying would make certain for my children.<\/p>\n

Because I have the self-respect which every human being is gifted.<\/p>\n

Because I deserve to be happy.<\/p>\n

And because no one will ever mistreat me.<\/p>\n

I look back and wonder how I ever could have doubted myself. How I ever could have fretted a friendship lost. How I ever could have felt alone. How I ever pondered my strength.<\/p>\n

I will never question or doubt myself again.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Because some women stay.<\/em><\/p>\n

And I did not.<\/strong><\/p>\n

It may be the love of what originally started a business or an authentically motivated personal profile, or simply the love of a subject being investigated which compels me to write. My forever favorite form of writing is the human interest essay or what I call, \u201cAn Interview With Life.\u201d The average day that is explored and somehow once again instills in us a joie de vivre\u2026..a joy of life.
