Although I&#8217;m a Jewish educator by profession, I count on her school to do most of the education. Granted, I was&nbsp;her&nbsp;teacher this year, but let&#8217;s not quibble over the details. I&#8217;ll still expect her to do most of her formal learning in school next year, when she&#8217;s in someone else&#8217;s hands. We home shul, but we emphatically do not home school. Way too hard.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Here&#8217;s a video I made for families of some of the highlights of the year in first grade. You&#8217;ll see kids blowing the shofar, picking apples for Rosh Hashanah, visiting a sukkah, decorating mezuzahs, playing twister in Hebrew, creating a giant mural of Mt. Sinai, and reading Hebrew books. There are also a few shots that look like they were taken at <a href=\"http:\/\/images.artnet.com\/artwork_images_423904078_112726_roman-vishniac.jpg\">cheder in the shtetl<\/a>&nbsp;&#8211; it was actually a trip to a living history museum. &nbsp;Every time I watch the video, and I look at the smiles on the faces of these kids immersed in Jewish learning, I am reminded of why we pay day school tuition.
