The reason I&#8217;m not in charge of it is because after our first child was born, I gave some explicit instructions to my husband. &#8220;You realize,&#8221; I said, &#8220;that until the girls are much older you are going to be in charge of mother&#8217;s day, right?&#8221; So far this has worked out pretty well. Surprisingly well, in fact, considering that my <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.beliefnet.com\/homeshuling\/2011\/04\/postcards-from-a-peaceful-interfaith-marriage.html\">beloved husband<\/a> is not much of holiday guy. Or much of a gift giving guy. (Hi, honey! I love you ANYWAY.)<\/p>\n<p>While I don&#8217;t want to be responsible for picking out my own mother&#8217;s day gift, I&#8217;m happy to pick one out for <em>you<\/em>. So, I&#8217;m excited to offer a giveaway so enticing that I wish I could enter. (I can&#8217;t.) Local artist <a href=\"http:\/\/www.emilyrosenfeld.com\/\">Emily Rosenfeld<\/a>, who creates all sorts of hip and affordable Judaica (and other usable art) out of pewter is offering a beautiful picture locket with a Jewish star on the front, and\u00a0<em>ahava<\/em>, the Hebrew word for love, engraved inside.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/wp-media.beliefnet.com\/sites\/86\/2011\/05\/locket_ahava_LG.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1233\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.beliefnet.com\/sites\/86\/2011\/05\/locket_ahava_LG.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"280\" height=\"280\" \/><\/a>I have quite a bit of Emily&#8217;s work in my home. I have her <a href=\"http:\/\/www.emilyrosenfeld.com\/store\/shabbat_candle_holders\">shabbat candlesticks<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/wp-media.beliefnet.com\/sites\/86\/2011\/05\/candle_fig_LG_w-details.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1234\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.beliefnet.com\/sites\/86\/2011\/05\/candle_fig_LG_w-details.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"280\" height=\"280\" \/><\/a>and a child&#8217;s mezuzah<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/wp-media.beliefnet.com\/sites\/86\/2011\/05\/noahs-ark-mezuzah.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1235\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.beliefnet.com\/sites\/86\/2011\/05\/noahs-ark-mezuzah.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"280\" height=\"280\" \/><\/a>plus this cute peg<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/wp-media.beliefnet.com\/sites\/86\/2011\/05\/pegs_04_LG.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1237\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.beliefnet.com\/sites\/86\/2011\/05\/pegs_04_LG.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"280\" height=\"420\" \/><\/a>But my favorite item is a defective Miriam&#8217;s Cup that my friend bought me at a seconds&#8217; sale, not noticing the little sign on it that said &#8220;unusable.&#8221; Much to our surprise, the first time we filled it with water at the seder it spouted a tiny stream of water. Which to me, doesn&#8217;t make in unusable. It makes it adorable. And a great seder prop.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1238\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1238\" style=\"width: 150px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/wp-media.beliefnet.com\/sites\/86\/2011\/05\/miriams-cup.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1238\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.beliefnet.com\/sites\/86\/2011\/05\/miriams-cup.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"235\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1238\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">not the actual leak<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>To enter this giveaway, tell me (at least) one thing you learned from your mother (Jewish or otherwise) that you are passing on (or trying to pass on) to your children.
