{"id":49,"date":"2010-08-27T00:00:01","date_gmt":"2010-08-27T00:00:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.beliefnet.com\/haveamagnificentday\/2010\/08\/we-are-all-wanderers-in-the-game-of-life.html"},"modified":"2015-11-30T13:23:19","modified_gmt":"2015-11-30T18:23:19","slug":"we-are-all-wanderers-in-the-game-of-life","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.beliefnet.com\/columnists\/haveamagnificentday\/2010\/08\/we-are-all-wanderers-in-the-game-of-life.html","title":{"rendered":"We Are All Wanderers in the Game of Life"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\">From The I Ching or Book of Changes:<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><b><i><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\">Those who travel beside the Sage are protected from harm.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\">A person who travels as a stranger in a strange land is wise to display an attitude free of arrogance and belligerence.\u00a0 Otherwise he is liable to meet with trouble and find himself unable to survive it.\u00a0 We are all strangers in a strange land, wanderers in a vast and unknowable universe, obliged to act accordingly.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\">Think of how you would proceed if traveling alone in an unfamiliar country.\u00a0 You would be cautious and reserved, taking great care not to fall in with the wrong people or enter into dangerous places.\u00a0 You would be tolerant of others and generous toward them if a dispute arose and you would be inclined to settle disagreements quickly to keep them from getting out of hand.\u00a0 You would rely on your attentiveness, your modest attitude and your gentle manner to keep you out of harm&#8217;s way.\u00a0 This is a wise way to travel through your entire life.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\">Seek now to stay in quiet harmony with the Higher Power and to embody caution, modesty and generosity in your actions.\u00a0 Do not drag out disagreements with others; conflict is a prison that grows more dangerous every minute you are in it.\u00a0 Do not depart from the path of humility and correct conduct, in doing so, you lose the protection of the Deity and risk misfortune.\u00a0 By continually seeking to serve the innocent and the good, you stay in step with the Sage and never wander alone in the world.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\">What would happen if each of us conducted ourselves in this manner?<br \/>\nWhat would\u00a0our relationships, families, countries and world be like?<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\">It is possible to live in harmony and in peace.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\">&#8216;<b><i>Let there be peace on earth and let it begin with me<\/i><\/b>.&#8217;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\">This week I have highlighted sections from the I Ching, The Book of Changes by Brian Browne Walker.\u00a0 It is not just an amazing book, but a wonderful guide and teaching for a healthy, fulfilling and prosperous life.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\">Have a wonderful weekend!<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\">Smiles,<br \/>\n\ud83d\ude42 Lee<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>From The I Ching or Book of Changes: Those who travel beside the Sage are protected from harm.
