On March 9, 1936, Sri Yukteswar<\/span><\/span> entered mahasamadhi<\/em>, a God, illumined master’s conscious exit<\/span> from the body at the time of physical death.\u00a0 <\/span>Sri Yukteswar was the beloved guru of Paramahansa Yogananda.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

“The root of pain is egoistic actions, which (being based on delusions) lead to misery.”<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n

“As man is the likeness of God, directing his attention inward he can comprehend within him <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/em>the said Force and Feeling, the sole properties of his Self-the Force Almighty as his will.”<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n

On March 9, 1931, Roy Eugene Davis, one of Paramahansa Yogananda’s disciples, was born.
\nToday is his 80th<\/sup> birthday.\u00a0 <\/span>Roy is one of the few living direct disciples of Yogananda.\u00a0 <\/span>He <\/span>continues to teach the principles of meditation and kriya-yoga that he learned from his guru.\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>His website is <\/span>www.csa-davis.org<\/span><\/a>. and his books and teaching are available to all.<\/p>\n

“<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/em>Opinions about the meaning of life and the purposes for our being in this world are of little value.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0 If our <\/span><\/span>thoughts and actions do not enhance our lives, the lives of others and the environment, our relatively brief <\/span><\/span>sojourn in this mundane realm of temporary relationships and transitory events is wasted.<\/span><\/span>“<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

“By earnest endeavor and God’s grace, when I was eighteen years of age I met Paramahansa Yogananda <\/span><\/span>and became his disciple.\u00a0 <\/span>As a child, I was self-motivated to discover the practical means by which my desire <\/span><\/span>to know the purpose of my life and my relationship to God could be most quickly and efficiently fulfilled.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

When I was with my guru, he demonstrated by his presence and demeanor how a Self-realized person lives. He provided wise counsel and encouragement, freely shared his knowledge, and initiated and instructed me in spiritual practices.\u00a0 <\/span>One evening in the late autumn of 1951, a few months before he left his body, he <\/span><\/span>transmitted to me the enlivening power of his enlightened consciousness and ordained me to teach.\u00a0 <\/span>The <\/span><\/span>essence of what I learned during those early years, and have personally realized during the decades that have passed since then, I now offer to sincere devotees on the spiritual path in this concise lesson format.”
