\"RevTimothyandBettyWright.jpg\"<\/span>The Associated Press reports that Reverend Timothy Wright has died <\/a>as the result of injuries sustained last July from an accident <\/a>that killed his wife and grandson. He was 61.
\nRev. Wright has been hospitalized since the accident with injuries related to a severe C4 spinal cord injury in the accident. By October, he had been taken off a respirator and was able to breathe on his own, and had begun to move his neck and arms. Family had thought he might be home for the holidays. He took a turn for the worse several months ago, however, and has remained in a Bronx hospital.
\nRev. Wright was the pastor at Grace Tabernacle Christian Center in Crown Heights, Brooklyn, New York and a Grammy-nominated music artist with more than a dozen albums to his credit. He received a Grammy nomination in 1995 for best traditional soul gospel album for his album, Come Thou Almighty King. His latest project, Jesus, Jesus, Jesus<\/em>, was released in 2007. Betty and Rev. Wright were nominated for a 2008 Stellar Award for Song of the Year for the album’s title cut.
\nThe Wrights were on their way home to Roosevelt, Long Island last July after attending a church conference in Detroit, Michigan, when the accident occurred on Interstate 80 in Greene Township, Pennyslvania. Betty Wright was killed in the crash and their grandson D.J. died later at the hospital. The driver the other vehicle, John Pick, 44, of Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, also died in the accident. A passenger in a third car was injured.
\nFuneral arrangements have not been announced.
