\"MXPXOnTheCover2.jpg\"<\/span>Punk rockers MxPx get ready to commemorate 17 years on the music scene with On The Cover II<\/em>. The album is a response to fan requests for a follow up to the band’s 1995 cover album On The Cover.<\/em>
\nTracks on Cover II include MxPx’s renditions of 80s songs like the Dead Milkmen’s “Punk Rock Girl,” U2’s “I Will Follow,” Descendents’ “Suburban Home,” The Go-Gos’ “Vacation,” The Proclaimers’ “I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles)” and The Clash’s “Should I Stay or Should I Go.”
\nThe trio also chose to cover more unusual songs on this album, including The Blue Hearts’ “Linda Linda.” The song may be unfamiliar to Americans, but it’s a treat for the band’s Japanese fans, as The Blue Hearts are one of the most legendary punk bands in Japan. The song was originally intended to be released in Japan only, but the band loved it enough to not only include it on the US release, but to also record the song in Japanese for the Japanese edition.
\nWhile not released in the 80s, the band included Queen’s “Somebody to Love,” enhanced with feature guests Bryce Avery of The Rocket Summer and Ethan Luck of Relient K.
