Today Show<\/a>.<\/p>\nBut little Megan wasn’t ready to give up. She leaned over her mother and with the faith of a child asked her mother to give them a sign.<\/p>\n
Incredibly, \u201cLori moved her eyes, and that was the first sign that I knew Lori was there,\u201d Michael Smith said. \u201cI didn\u2019t know if Lori was being mom for the last time or what, but God really gave us a miracle and brought Lori back to us.\u201d<\/p>\n
“Some 56 days after Lori went to the hospital for what appeared to be a no-drama birth of the couple\u2019s fourth child, she is \u2014 despite long odds against her \u2014 back at the family\u2019s home in Morrow, Ohio,” reports Inbar.<\/p>\n
Just a few days ago, Michael and Lori, along with Megan, Katie Beth, Hayden and newborn Delilah, appeared live via satellite on\u00a0the Today Show to tell Ann Curry their story.<\/p>\n
Everything seemed routine. Lori Smith entered the hospital and\u00a0delivered baby Delilah.<\/p>\n
“But things went horribly wrong,” reports Inbar.<\/p>\n
\u201cFirst Lori had a headache, then 15 minutes later she started throwing up, and then was totally unresponsive,\u201d Michael told Today. \u201cThey couldn\u2019t wake her up. They called the Emergency Response Team. They couldn\u2019t do anything \u2014 they thought she was dying.\u201d<\/p>\n
Lori\u2019s heart actually had stopped beating.\u00a0It stopped\u00a0twice during an agonizing 49-minute period before doctors and nurses managed to get a regular heartbeat again.<\/p>\n
“They learned Lori\u2019s system shut down because blood clots formed in her brain, liver and kidneys, and that she had also suffered a stroke that went to her brainstem,” reports Inbar.<\/p>\n
