{"id":2539,"date":"2013-03-03T21:23:09","date_gmt":"2013-03-04T02:23:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.beliefnet.com\/godonomics\/?p=2539"},"modified":"2013-02-19T21:25:22","modified_gmt":"2013-02-20T02:25:22","slug":"developing-a-hagaaaaaa-for-gods-word","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.beliefnet.com\/columnists\/godonomics\/2013\/03\/developing-a-hagaaaaaa-for-gods-word.html","title":{"rendered":"Developing a Hagaaaaaa for God&#8217;s word"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><br \/>\nEverytime we are faced with temptation, we choose to Trust, or put our faith in one Lion or the Other. \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0If Integrity is \u201cdoing what\u2019s right as God defines right regardless of the circusmtances&#8230;\u201d Then we will have a moment of trust. \u00a0Do I trust God\u2019s way of defining right? \u00a0Is it really honey? \u00a0Is trusting his way worth it \u2018regardless of the circumstances?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In Joshua 1:8, Joshua uses an Onemonepia to describe what a man who wants to defeat temptation looks like. \u00a0\u00a0He says:<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff\">8 This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">meditate<\/span> in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The word Meditate is the word Hagaaaaaaa. \u00a0It is a phrase used to sound like the sound of a lion chewing up, tearing about, and devouring it\u2019s prey. Haaaaagaaaaaa. Rip, tear, devour. \u00a0\u00a0God wants us to have such an appetite for truth, His truth, his way, that we devour it like a Lion.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0This is exactly what Jesus did when he was tempted. \u00a0He was tempted in every way. \u00a0Temptation came to him with honey promising him the riches of the world to bow down before him and turn from God. \u00a0Temptation came with fear, telling jesus he woudl starve if he didn\u2019t do what he said. \u00a0Temptation came with lies that God wasn\u2019t good and needed to prove himself&#8230; And every time, Jesus tasted the honey of God\u2019s word and outloud said, \u201cIt is written&#8230;\u201d \u00a0Meaning I will put my faith and confidence in God\u2019s definition of right and wrong&#8230; \u00a0More than that, he called this Lying Lion for who he was. \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0He may have said, \u201cthis looks like honey, but is actually a Dead Rotting Carcas&#8230;<\/strong><\/strong><strong><strong>\u201d<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Live in Light of the Lions.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><br \/>\n1. Identify ONE Zombie Lion who is lying to you. \u00a0\u00a0(fear, worry, self hatred, lust, anger, over spending, compromise, greed, etc) \u00a0And I want you to try this week, whenever that issue comes up, say to yourself, \u201cThis looks like honey, but is actually a dead carcass!\u201d \u00a0Then&#8230;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><br \/>\n2. Identify ONE WORD OF HONEY FROM THE LION \u00a0\u00a0Find the one area that you struggle with&#8230; the temptation you face, and pick one verse from the Bible that you can use to fight this lion. \u00a0\u00a0I did this years ago. I listed all the lions that attack me, and I googled, Bible verses about anger&#8230; Bible verses\u00a0about\u00a0money.. .Bible verses about using your tongue&#8230; And I memorized One verse for the issue I struggled with. \u00a0\u00a0I want you to do the same. \u00a0Find ONE verse. Google one Bible passage. \u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0Because if you do,\u00a0<strong>You will avoid the pain of seeing your inner life, faith, family, and future devoured by a lion, and you\u2019ll begin to see the power within your inner life come alive as christ begins to fight for you as you give confidence to him.<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.godonomics.com\">www.godonomics.com<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Everytime we are faced with temptation, we choose to Trust, or put our faith in one Lion or the Other. \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0If Integrity is \u201cdoing what\u2019s right as God defines right regardless of the circusmtances&#8230;\u201d Then we will have a moment of trust. \u00a0Do I trust God\u2019s way of defining right?
