Today, though, Hillary&#8217;s religious image got some burnishing. Writing in his regular <em>Washington Post<\/em> slot, former Bush speechwriter and evangelical intellectual Michael Gerson cites a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/God-Hillary-Clinton-Spiritual-Life\/dp\/0061136921\/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1\/102-8832570-1875318?ie=UTF8&amp;s=books&amp;qid=1190949844&amp;sr=8-1\">new spiritual biography<\/a> of Hillary that calls her &#8220;the most religious Democrat since Jimmy Carter.&#8221; And <a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/wp-dyn\/content\/article\/2007\/09\/25\/AR2007092501754.html\">Gerson seems to concur<\/a>, prompting God-o-Meter to ask: could Hillary have bought a better endorsement of her religious bona fides? Sure, Gerson takes the expected whacks at Hillary&#8217;s pro-choice record. But he whacks Rudy Giuliani harder.
