Last night’s guest on The Daily Show was comedian Jeff Garlin, there to talk about “My Footprint,” the humorous book about food addiction Garlin was inspired to write after he starred as an obese ship captain in the brilliant Pixar film “Wall-E.”  <\/p>\n

Garlin, who looked trim and relaxed, and Daily Show host Jon Stewart are old friends, and the interview fell into reminiscence as Stewart lovingly poked fun at his friends for the bad behaviors he displayed during his food-addicted years–and even the ways in which Stewart enabled the problem.<\/p>\n

The best part?  Garlin absolutely convulses with laughter as Stewart is talking, agreeing heartily with the accusations in a way that one can only do when something toxic, dangerous, and negative can genuinely be joked about in the past tense.<\/p>\n

I think it’s worth watching, and worth reflecting on the release that can come when a true friend calls you out on something tough about yourself–and you have the open ears to hear it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
