{"id":309,"date":"2009-04-13T15:01:48","date_gmt":"2009-04-13T15:01:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.beliefnet.com\/freshliving\/2009\/04\/how-to-celebrate-feel-better-day-1.html"},"modified":"2009-04-13T15:01:48","modified_gmt":"2009-04-13T15:01:48","slug":"how-to-celebrate-feel-better-day-1","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.beliefnet.com\/columnists\/freshliving\/2009\/04\/how-to-celebrate-feel-better-day-1.html","title":{"rendered":"How to Celebrate &#8216;Feel Better Day&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span class=\"mt-enclosure mt-enclosure-image\"><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.beliefnet.com\/freshliving\/Celebrate_Icon12768.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Celebrate_Icon12768.jpg\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.beliefnet.com\/sites\/84\/import\/assets_c\/2009\/04\/Celebrate_Icon12768-thumb-176x159-4294.jpg\" class=\"mt-image-left\" style=\"margin: 0pt 20px 20px 0pt;float: left\" height=\"159\" width=\"176\" \/><\/a><\/span>Don&#8217;t you love random &#8220;holidays?&#8221; Things like &#8220;Happy Hump Day&#8221; or &#8220;It&#8217;s my half-birthday&#8221; are really just excuses to declare to the world, &#8220;I want to feel good today!&#8221;&nbsp; But they do the trick, and I think we need more of them.&nbsp; Starting with &#8220;Feel Better Day,&#8221; that day when you realize after a cold or a migraine or a stomach bug or a depression that your energy is coming back, your life force hasn&#8217;t abandoned you, you&#8217;re ready to re-emerge from the sick bed and walk the land of the living.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s been a rough winter for us here at Fresh Living.&nbsp; Valerie and I<br \/>\nhave both had multiple bouts of sinus, bronchial, tonsil, and other<br \/>\nrespiratory problems.&nbsp; Each symphony of tissues, soup, <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.beliefnet.com\/freshliving\/2009\/04\/why-salt-water-gargling-helps-your-throat.html\">salt water gargling<\/a>,<br \/>\nand antibiotics, seemed to last forever.&nbsp; Today, as the sun is shining, the windows are open, and both of<br \/>\nus are starting to emerge from our latest (and hopefully last)<br \/>\nepisodes, feels like a perfect &#8220;Feel Better Day.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>So, here, in acrostic form (Why not? It&#8217;s a holiday!) are ways to celebrate &#8220;FBD,&#8221; projecting into the world the relief, joy, and energy that you feel when you <i>finally<\/i> feel better.<\/p>\n<p><b>F<\/b> &#8211; Freshen your surroundings; wash blankets, bedding, surfaces until they&#8217;re clear and clean. <br \/><b>E<\/b> &#8211; Exercise your body and feel your heart pumping strong and steady.<br \/><b>E<\/b> &#8211; Eat a seasonal, healthy meal as reward to your body for getting better.<br \/><b>L<\/b> &#8211; Light a candle (soy or <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.beliefnet.com\/freshliving\/2009\/03\/do-beeswax-candles-clean-the-air.html\">beeswax<\/a>, please!) and meditate on your reunion with health.<\/p>\n<p><b>B<\/b> &#8211; Breathe deeply and rejoice at the vibration of a clear, full, healthy breath.<br \/><b>E<\/b> &#8211; Experience fortifying, soothing essential oils like rose, lavender, and linden flower.<br \/><b>T<\/b> &#8211; Thank those who brought you soup, sent kind emails, or just listened to you whine.<br \/><b>T<\/b> &#8211; Turn on the radio and sing out loud, celebrating the power of your voice.<br \/><b>E <\/b>&#8211;
