Eating young plants – fresh, leafy greens (dandelion, spinach, fiddle ferns, wild leeks, watercress, etc.), sprouts – all can improve the liver’s overall functions and aid in the movement of qi.

Taste Sour. Foods and drinks with sour tastes are thought to stimulate the liver’s qi. Put lemon slices in your drinking water, use vinegar and olive oil for your salad dressing. Garnish your sandwich with a slice of dill pickle. Put a heap of sauerkraut on your … veggie dog.

Envision Possibility. See your life growing beyond present obstacles. Write your goals and dreams, take one step at a time, and walk steadily towards your north star.

Be Gentle. The Wood element in Chinese Medicine has a tendency towards frustration and impatience, so acknowledge yourself for your efforts, and kindly give yourself some time and space to get to where you’re going.

[Image via: http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Colorful_spring_garden.jpg]

Like what you see? Click here to subscribe and get Fresh Living in your in-box every day.

My acupuncturist/bodyworker friend who started Yoga Local, a cool find-a-yoga-studio iPhone app, just sent out this lovely little list of ways to tune your health to harmonize with the changing season.
