Aaron Carter, a former child pop singer and younger brother of Backstreet Boys\u2019 Nick Carter, died on Saturday, November 5, 2022. He was 34.<\/p>\n
A Los Angeles County Sheriff\u2019s Department spokesperson told CNN they responded to a call for help at Carter\u2019s Lancaster, California home on Saturday morning around 11 a.m. local time, where a deceased person was found at the scene. According to a source on the scene, Aaron was found dead in his bathtub. There\u2019s been no information about a possible cause of death.<\/p>\n
The singer\u2019s debut studio album, \u201cAaron Carter,\u201d was released in 1997, and he performed as the opening act for the Backstreet Boys earlier that year. His fifth and final album, \u201cLove,\u201d was released in 2018.<\/p>\n
Carter was also known for his roles on television shows such as \u201cLizzie McGuire\u201d on Disney Channel and \u201c7th Heaven,\u201d which debuted on The WB Television Network. He also appeared on his family\u2019s reality series on E! Entertainment Television, \u201cHouse of Carters.\u201d<\/p>\n
The singer opened up in 2019 in an episode of \u201cThe Doctors\u201d about his battle with multiple mental health issues, including multiple personality disorder, schizophrenia, acute anxiety, and manic depression. \u201cThis is my reality,\u201d Carter said as he held up a plastic bag of multiple prescription bottles in one clip featured on the show\u2019s Facebook page.<\/p>\n
After the news of his death, tributes to Aaron Carter started pouring in, most notably from his older brother, Backstreet Boys singer Nick Carter. In a post on Instagram Sunday, Nick wrote that despite their \u201ccomplicated relationship,\u201d his love for Carter \u201chas never ever faded.\u201d In a caption of pictures of Nick and Aaron throughout the years, Nick wrote, \u201cI have always held onto the hope that he would somehow, someday, want to walk a healthy path and eventually find the help that he so desperately needed. Sometimes we want to blame someone or something for a loss. But the truth is that addiction and mental illness is the real villain here.\u201d<\/p>\n
