Saget<\/a> played the patriarch on the hit sitcom \u201cFull House,\u201d landing the role as Danny Tanner in 1987. His co-stars included John Stamos, Candace Cameron Bure, Mary-Kate Olsen, and Ashley Olsen. Saget also had a stint in the stand-up comedy realm. Most people saw Saget as a loving father figure, so his raunchy comedy during his stand-up routines came as a shock.<\/p>\nComedy Central put Saget\u2019s comedy contributions on full display during his memorable roast. Aside from Gilbert Godfrey and Norm Macdonald, Saget shared some jokes of his own. Comedian Gilbert Gottfried described his \u201cshock\u201d over the news, writing on\u00a0Twitter that he had just spoken to Saget a few days ago, and the two were making each other laugh.<\/p>\n
Saget was in the middle of a tour at the time of his death, scheduled to take him to locations in New York, Canada, and several other places in the coming months. According to his website, Saget often hosted comedy events to raise money for the Scleroderma Research Foundation, for which he served on the board of directors. His website said he lost his sister to the chronic disease in 1994.<\/p>\n
