I am weary of the historical books of Samuel, Kings, and Chronicles. There are only so many ways a king can turn evil, after all. Still, the play-by-play of Chronicles has made me see firsthand the importance of the temple in ancient Israel&#8217;s faith, which is the necessary set-up for understanding the devastation that&#8217;s about to happen with the Exile. (Spoiler alert!)&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Only two more weeks until Ezra &amp; Nehemiah. I&#8217;m not saying that they&#8217;re going to be cheerful, but it&#8217;s time for a change, a new political party. The winds of change are blowing. Here 580K Judeans are said to fend off 1m Ethiopians. Overhype much?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Mon 11\/1<br \/>\n#Twible 2 Chron 15: Random prophet appears to remind King Asa of the Chronicler&#8217;s whole theme: seek G &amp; live. Oh, &amp; kill any backsliders.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Tues 11\/2<br \/>\n#Twible 2 Chron 16: King Asa turns evil. He began so well, too; I had high hopes for this one. I need to stop getting emotionally invested.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Wed 11\/3<br \/>\n#Twible 2 Chron 17: Jehoshaphat, aka &#8220;Phat,&#8221; is blessed w\/riches &amp; military might. He&#8217;ll keep them as long as he&#8217;s righteous&#8230;.Oh, damn.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Thurs 11\/4<br \/>\n#Twible 2 Chron 18: On the eve of Phat&#8217;s great battle he decides to ask G if war&#8217;s a good idea. It might&#8217;ve been a good idea to ask BEFORE.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Fri 11\/5<br \/>\n#Twible 2 Chron 19: Phat&#8217;s learned to trust G; installs Levitical judges through land to teach people the law.
