He is Risen. Those three words are
\nshowing up everywhere today. Before heading out to church and back to back
\nfeasts with family, (not sure if it is traditional, but I’m already full
\nthinking about all of the food on our agenda today) I wanted to read the story
\nin full. So, without commentary, I thought I’d share it here.\u00a0The
\nfollowing comes from the New International Version of the Bible.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Matthew 28<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The Resurrection<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

1<\/span><\/span>After the Sabbath, at dawn on the first day of the week, Mary
\nMagdalene and the other Mary went to look at the tomb.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/span>2<\/span><\/span>There was a
\nviolent earthquake, for an angel of the Lord came down from heaven and, going
\nto the tomb, rolled back the stone and sat on it.\u00a0<\/span><\/span>3<\/span><\/span>His appearance was
\nlike lightning, and his clothes were white as snow.\u00a0<\/span><\/span>4<\/span><\/span>The guards were so
\nafraid of him that they shook and became like dead men.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

5<\/span><\/span>The angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that
\nyou are looking for Jesus, who was crucified.\u00a0<\/span><\/span>6<\/span><\/span>He is not here; he
\nhas risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay.\u00a0<\/span><\/span>7<\/span><\/span>Then go quickly
\nand tell his disciples: ‘He has risen from the dead and is going ahead of you
\ninto Galilee. There you will see him.’ Now I have told you.”<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/span>8<\/span><\/span>So the women hurried away from the tomb, afraid
\nyet filled with joy, and ran to tell his disciples.\u00a0<\/span><\/span>9<\/span><\/span>Suddenly Jesus met
\nthem. “Greetings,” he said. They came to him, clasped his feet and
\nworshiped him.\u00a0<\/span><\/span>10<\/span><\/span>Then Jesus said to them, “Do not be afraid. Go and tell my brothers
\nto go to Galilee; there they will see me.”<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The Guards’ Report<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

11<\/span><\/span>While the women were on their way, some of the guards went into the
\ncity and reported to the chief priests everything that had happened.\u00a0<\/span><\/span>12<\/span><\/span>When the chief
\npriests had met with the elders and devised a plan, they gave the soldiers a
\nlarge sum of money,\u00a0<\/span><\/span>13<\/span><\/span>telling them, “You are to say, ‘His disciples came during the
\nnight and stole him away while we were asleep.’\u00a0<\/span><\/span>14<\/span><\/span>If this report
\ngets to the governor, we will satisfy him and keep you out of
\ntrouble.”\u00a0<\/span><\/span>15<\/span><\/span>So the soldiers took the money and did as they were instructed. And
\nthis story has been widely circulated among the Jews to this very day.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The Great Commission<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

16<\/span><\/span>Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where
\nJesus had told them to go.\u00a0<\/span><\/span>17<\/span><\/span>When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted.\u00a0<\/span><\/span>18<\/span><\/span>Then Jesus came to
\nthem and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to
\nme.\u00a0<\/span><\/span>19<\/span><\/span>Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them
\nin\u00a0the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,\u00a0<\/span><\/span>20<\/span><\/span>and teaching them
\nto obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to
\nthe very end of the age.”<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
